Night In the Hospital Posted: 07-22-07 12:24pm
So last night I had a dry run for whenever
I have Luke
I had a really busy week and had been
contracting off and on all week long. So
Saturday I do my normal Saturday teaching
and whenever I get home I start to clean
like crazy. I was starting to feel a few
contractions that were getting pretty
intense but I just ignored them. Well,
stupid girl that I am, I allowed hubby to
woo me and we had some coitus After that all heck
broke loose!
I tried to take a nap but the contractions
were getting closer and stronger and I was
getting uncomfortable, not to mention that
I was having horrible menstrual like
cramps. So I call the doctor after timing
them for an hour or so (they were 3-4
minutes apart) and she told me to time for
another hour and if they were still strong
to come to L&D. So I time them and
they stay consistent the whole time and so
I pack all the stuff up (I hadn't packed
anything yet because I am only 35 weeks)
and we got into the car and went 45
minutes to my hospital.
Whenever I got there they checked me and I
was dilated to a 1 and 50% effaced. They
put me on the monitors and I had to see
the resident on call. They kept throwing
ice chips at me ( quite literally at some
points) and my contractions really seemed
to calm down. My (real) doctor came in and
she scolded me because she had told me to
take it easy at my last appointment.
Thankfully nobody scolded me for coming in
like I thought they would. In fact, the
nurse said it was a good thing that I came
in.
So, there about to discharge me all that
we need are the papers. Well, the dr comes
in to check me and she sees that my
contractions are allot stronger now (duh,
I could've told you that they were getting
painful again) and were registering like
60 -70 on the monitor. When I got there
they hadn't even been that high. Well,
they gave me terbutaline and I had to stay
even longer because they had to monitor my
heartrate.
That medicine made me fell funny! In fact,
my heart is still going a little crazy
right now. It's supposed to wear off in a
couple of days.
I also have a UTI which they think is
another reason that I was contracting and
having lower back pains. Not fun! I did
learn that the nurses in L&D are
super, super nice and that it is a very
relaxing atmosphere at my hospital. Also,
Luke seems perfect. Something to do with
his heart's responsiveness to outside
stimulant. The doctor and nurse were happy
it.
I am super tired today but I have to be on
partial bedrest now. My husband wasn't too
happy that we came home without a baby but
we both know that he needs to cook for a
few more weeks. The nurse said that if the
terbutaline hadn't worked than they
would've had me deliver last night.
Btw, my cervix didn't change so I think I
am going to be a 1 for forever!
Also, I wanted to keep you guys updated
the whole time but the website wasn't
uploading! Oh well, it's not like I
actually had him anyways!

you're like 35 weeks right? that is a
good thing he decided to stay put for now.
i'm the same way, as soon as i start
working on anything the contractions start
and get painful but they stop when i lie
down. but my bun is definitely fully
cooked at this point so it would be a good
thing for me. i'm glad your nurses and
doctor were all nice to you. i went in to
the hospital for a uti a few months ago
and it was good practise for the trip
also. now we know exactly where we need
to go and all that. of course, i had
stayed in that hospital earlier for my
surgery but that was on a different floor.
anyway, take it easy on yourself (and
hubby, lol kidding). take care.

Lol about the hubby comment!
Yes, I am 35 weeks today. My doctor was
very concerned about lung development.
Oh, and my contractions didn't go away
whenever I laid down. Isn't that odd.

I'm glad that you made it home without
Luke this time. He does need to cook for
at least a couple more weeks. Just try to
make it to 37 weeks. BTW, I love your new
avatar. You so need to post some of your
wedding pics sometimes so I can really see
your beautiful dress.

Hey girl....whew! zI'm glad that Luke
didn't come this early yet....he does need
a little more time in your belly, but it
will be the right time very very
soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's mamzing how much
you need to rest and not do very much at
this point huh?! You sound like
me....thinking we are "superwoman" and can
do it all!!! LOL I am still working
and climbing ladders and lifting boxes b/c
no one at work will help me - isn't that
ridiculous?! And to top it all off, my
work doesn't relly have any "modified
duties" for me to do, so I'm pretty much
down to half days and doing whatever I
can! Oh well, my bosses don't even live
here and they haven't said anything os
I'll continue doing it my way for the next
4 weeks!
Anyhow, make sure you rest and take it
easy....you get that hubby of your's
working up a sweat around the house and
making you yummy dinners!!!! Keep us posetd
though if anything else happens!!!!
