Advice, Anyone?

We're in a bit of a pickle.

We have a trailer, like many of you know. & In this trailer, we have 2 window units. One in mine & Chris's bedroom, & one in the living room. Gabe's room doesn't have one, & the sun hits that room all day long, so even on a nice, cool day, it is scorching hot back there. So, him sleeping back there is out of the question. So he's been sleeping in me & Chris's room in his bassinet. His crib won't fit in our room. But he's just about too big for his bassinet. I don't know what to do. We can't switch him rooms because our bed won't fit back in what's supposed to be his room, & there isn't anywhere else to put his crib. What the heck are we supposed to do? We want to get out of the trailer, but I'm not sure if we can afford anything else right now.

I want to be out of there by the time he starts crawling.. & I actually have no idea when that is. But he's already 4 months old & he's very good at pushing himself up & whatnot.

I just have no idea how to get around this little hurdle.

Sigh.

Also, I swear to god he's starting to teeth. He's drooling EVERYWHERE, doesn't have a very good appetite, starting to be extremely fussy & he chews on EVERYTHING really hard, he has diaper rash, & I swear there's a small bump on his bottom gums. Shocked

i guess my only suggestion would be to get a window unit for his room or put yours in his room.

he could be teething, cindy's little guy just got his bottom teeth and he's a few days younger than gabe. finn likes to chomp on frozen washcloths when his teeth are bugging him.

I'm not sure what to do about the crib thing. Possibly getting one of those play pens that are portable may work for you guys in a pinch. We have one that we tote around when we go to camp or if Jaylon goes to my sister's for a couple of hours. It still takes up space, but at least you could take it down during the day.

He may be teething. Jaylon had a bottom one pop through last week. He's 4 months too.

Good luck to you

We've thought about putting a window unit in his room, but there's only 1 window in there, & our eletric bill is already so freakin' high.. The window units kill us. We'll see what we can do. They're expensive, we got the two we have for free.

Have you tried to get some fans and have some of the cool air go back to his room?

i was gonna say the exact same thing. we only have one window unit and it's in our office right now because we were renovating the living room and we have the wrong kind of window in the bedroom so it wouldn't fit. so we have two fans blowing the air from the office to the bedroom all the time. it's not perfect but it cools it off a little. i also keep the curtains shut tight during the daytime. you could try covering them up with something heavier to keep all the heat coming in. some people put aluminium foil in the window to reflect all the sunlight back. it's not pretty but it would probably work the best. otherwise maybe some good heavy blinds would work.

I remember when I did not even have air conditioning....I lined the windows with aluminum foil and it seemed to keep the heat out. Also, a box fan from Walmart set in the hallway to blow cool air from livingroom into Gabes room would help. They run about $10 bucks. A lot cheaper than trying to find a window ac and then pay the elec. bill. I had a nephew who ws born with his two bottom teeth coming in, so yes it sound like your little guy is cutting teeth. I too gave my daughter the frozen/cold wash clothes like Finns Mommy! Hope you figure it out sweetie!

our huose here has no a.c its the german housing no where in germany has it, keeping the windows and b linds closed during the day keeps it cooled down , we have fans in my bedroom and the living room, josephs blinds are kept closed upstairs so his room stays reasonably cool. Weve been using the playpen for jordynne for now. the cribs still in pieces int he basement and we dont have a matress for it and cant afford that right now either. i just tucked blankets under the mat so the dont come loose so its alil softer for her to sleep on. i find it easier. crib takes up soooooo much space and we really have no room for a crib in our room. the houses here are made funky, the fans help alot though , cheaper then an a.c unit too. it sucks cuz trailers kinda attract heat too, the way german houses are made its supposed to keep em cooler on the inside then american houses and stuff. prob why its not scorching here. Or even putting aplaypen in the living room for him to sleep in at night if it wont fit in your room.
Jordynne went through a phase of drooling and not sleeping anda fever but still no teeth , i havent checked lately to see if any are about to pop in though. hopefully soon.
He will be crawling in no time too, 4 mths they scoot not long after they do a real crawl. at least by 6 mths prob be crawling on his hands and knees and getting alot more curious.

i would suggest covering the window with a dark colored blanket and leaving your n his bedrooms open during the so the cold air can cool the whole house n get fan like everyone else said but i wouldnt get a floor fan cuz when gabe starts to be mobile he could get his finger cut off. i terrified of fans always afraid ill accidently stick a finger in or itll fall n the cover will come off im weird
