Hi, I'm 22 years old and have been
experiencing a sharp and pretty constant
pain right under my left breast, where the
underwire of my bra sits. It's been
happening for a few weeks now, but I've
kept passing it off as my bra not fitting,
even though the bra isn't new and I'm the
same size I've been for years. It does
ease when I take my bra off, but I can
still feel it, just less intense. I just
wonder if anyone else has experienced
this, and what they've discovered?? I've
read about ulcers, gallbladders, stress,
and various other diagnoses but haven't
read anything that fits me particularly.
And I can't see the doctor because I don't
have medical insurance.... any thoughts?
I'd appreciate any insight!

It sounds like maybe a deep bruise or
nerves being pinched... try going without
the bra for a week and see if the pain
stays.

Pain Under Left (right) Breast! Posted: 07-26-07 19:32pm
Hi,
A friend I know had the same problem a few
years ago and the physician who checked
her blamed the bra too.
You may have been using the same size for
years but a slight change in the model or
size - or as suggested before, not wearing
one - might help.
Now I need help/advise on a new issue...
Do you have any lumps or a hard surface
like thing around the place of pain?
Cos my friend does now...she tried
changing her bra, but has not helped so
far. In fact the pain spread to her lungs
too, so was advised to go on some pain
killers.
Had a mammogram (breast X-ray) done, and
no anomalies detected.
No cysts/lumps as per the ultrasound (the
screening is done after the mammogram
compulsorily in my home country).
But the pain persists and there's a
feeling of fullness and a bit of
tenderness too. No discharge though.
Any got any idea what it might be? Cos the
doctors have asked her to go on the pain
killers and see what happens.

Tanoshii, You mentioned a lump or hard
spot in your firends breast with pain. The
mammogram and ultrasound did not pick up
anything. Ask your friend to ask her
physican could it be possible a milk gland
be stopped up. This is what happened to a
friend of mine. She was not given anything
for pain and was told it would unstop
itself. I'd never heard of such, but it
sounds like pretty much the same thing.
She stopped wearing a bra for a month
before even going to her doctor, thinking
it was her bra as well.

Hi Fairy*Godmother,
Actually my friend is about 50 now...and
she got the same checked by a gynecologist
too. And the doctor too pretty much said
there was nothing wrong. But after a
course of antibiotics to clear off any
infection that could have been the cause
of the pain, she is feeling a little
better.
But do let me know if a 50 year old woman
can have a milk gland be stopped up. She
is close to a menopause age too...but the
doc din't seem to find anything go wrong
cos of that too.
Quite a puzzle!!

Yes, when it comes to milk duct glands
getting "clogged" or stopped up. age is
not a factor. So yes, a 50 year old can
have this problem.
