Ghost Hunt - Report Posted: 07-26-07 06:03am
OK well, I've always been sensitive to
this kind of stuff.
I saw my great grandma when I was a child
(she died before I was born), my great
grandfather (died when I was about 7) and
I've more than dabbled in several forms of
mediumship and also the occult.
I was prepared to be terrified - as I said
I'm scared of the dark - heck I'm scared
of my own shadow half the time
So, off we went - I dayum near joined the
spirit side on the TREK from the gates to
the castle, jeesh that hill was so long
and so steep - at least the walk back to
the car was downhill at the end of the
night.
It was still semi light when we got there
so we had a wander about, went and stood
quietly in some of the remains - nothing -
it felt seriously quiet - too quiet, like
you would expect at least some sort of
residual energy, just due to the age of
the place let alone there are numerous
documented deaths there.
So we went and stood up on the keep and
looked out to the other part of the
castle, let our eyes soft focus and let
instinct draw our eyes - NOTHING.
By now I'm like what? Thinking this is
going to go one of 2 ways, either it's the
quiet before the storm and all hell is
gonna let loose, or this site is
spiritually empty tonight at least.
Then there was a talk by Richard Felix
(nice enough bloke) about the history of
the castle, his personal feelings on
spirits/paranormal - made it clear he is
very much a sceptic - OK...
Bit more wandering about - got annoyed at
the fact that they had a bar open and a
number of people appeared to have gone
just for the fact they could drink.
By midnight 2 of the 3 groups had gone
into their vigils and so the open ground
were much quieter (we chose the latest
vigil).
So spent more time stood in the now
moonlight just allowing ourselves to
feel.... Nothing.
Seriously I've felt more psychic activity
in the grocery store.
12.30 time for our vigil.
Richard greets us and we all (about 30
people sigh) into this round room for the
first seance.
Richard (the sceptic) asks for tapping, or
effect one of us - nothing, keeps asking
for about 10 mins - nothing.
Moves us to another room where they have
an ancient wooden ashtray on a table and
he get's people to put their fingers on it
and he (Richard) asks for spirits to come
forward (he did do protection before each
thing we did, although I also did my own
as well).
Of course Richard points out that he isn't
touching the ashtray so it can't be him
that makes it move...
Oh and it moves - odd because I really
really can not feel anything - I have I
suddenly become psychically blind
tonight?
Surprise the "spirit" claims to have been
an employee who was raped and later
murdered by the "master" of the castle.
So Richard can help her move on - wait -
he's a sceptic... hmmmm
Guess what the spirit doesn't move on, so
the next people to have their fingers on
the ashtray try to send her energy to help
her move on - I'm still not feeling
anything.
Richard asks another lady (real life) to
step forward and help - she tells the
spirit to follow her guide to the light
and the ashtray stops moving...
Won't start again for the next group - so
we move on to another room.
Richard tells us it's so cold in here -
can we feel it? Um no, actually I'm so hot
(I'm usually cold anyway) that I have
removed my jumper.
Richard tells us that this cold is totally
paranormal because there is no reason for
it to be so cold...
Wait - he's a sceptic...
I mean the cold couldn't possibly be due
to the fact that it's an old building
(it's actually a Tudor manor house built
within the castle walls) with stone walls
and no heating could it Richard?
We walk through the room that used to be
the shop, Richard tells us that we feel
really cold here - umm no? And we exit
back into the courtyard to be greeted by
Dr David Dudley to be take to...
THE CRYPT
The crypt is above ground?? Since when are
crypts above ground - they're below ground
to keep them cold so that the bodies are
preserved... OK who screwed up there
then?
Supposedly the chapel was above the crypt
and while religion was practiced upstairs
in the public view, witchcraft was
practiced down here in the crypt.
Oh wait you have to go through the crypt
to get to the chapel...
Anyone see a problem with that?
Anyone else think we're being told porkies
yet?
So we're going to do another seance in
this "crypt".
OK I admit at first when the lights went
out I was SPOOKED, I'm holding Steve's
hand real tight LOL, not because I feel
anything but there was NO LIGHT at all.
You know when it goes sudden dark and
after a few minutes your eyes adjust and
you can see a little bit? Well, this was
proper dark not the slighest bit of light,
even after 10 mins my eyes still couldn't
actually "see" anything.
Dr Dudley points out a "spirit" coming
through the wall...
umm that's the glow of the rear view
finder of the camera, they are filimg
with, reflecting off the stone work.
I still am not feeling the slightest
"paranormal activity".
Oh wait what's that over there, OK I see
something (not feeling anything though) oh
it's gone, it's back it's what?
Dr Dudley: "can anyone see the glow over
in the stage area?"
Oh yeah I can.
Dr Dudley: "that's a jar of eyeballs
(what?) used for the show they have in
here, but can you see how it fades in and
out?"
yes....
Dr Dudley: "that's because a spirit is
walking up and down the stage".
umm no that's because my eyes can't focus
because it's so flippin dark.
He asks people if they can feel the cold
behind them, if they can see anything -
some woman screams and says someone pulled
her hair - hmmm?
Dr Dudley tells us that children are
running around in the middle of the circle
- as kids to in crypts y'know...
While he's waffling I think I see a faint
glow in what I think it the corner of the
room (very disorientating in such
darkness) but I can't focus on it to be
sure.
I think I see a small shower of gold
stars, but again not sure - I've seen
similiar when I squeeze my eyes tight
shut.
Uh are my eyes open or closed - oh heck
I'm not sure - that's freaky - poke eyes
to check - yup open LOL
When the lights go back on the faint glow
wasn't in the corner at all but happened
to be a glass/plastic window (part of the
show set - daytime entertainment thing)
that was reflecting the exit sign
(luminous yellow exit sign).
Still haven't felt anything remotely
paranormal by now and the night is over -
and I'm not the sceptic.
Richard is bouncing about "I truly believe
that's paranormal - there is no
explanation for that, I'm a sceptic but
that has to be paranormal, tonight was so
active, I'm a down to earth guy, I'm
totally sceptic, I believe 80% can be
explained but not all of it but tonight
was so active, truly paranormal"...
OK Richard, umm you just lost a lot of
respect from me, I'm afraid time to move
on, chalk this up to experience.
We'll go on another, there's a few places
we want to go, so we'll pick our next
choice by location rather than anything
else.
However, we won't be going to Derby Goal -
Richard owns it and does ghost tours
there.
Oh and for a sceptic you'd love his car
registration plate - I'll not post it but
let's say it has his initials RF and the
word ghost in it - very clever very
expensive.
thats kinda a let down that you didnt
experience anything, maybe that guys full
of crud i dunno, it woulda been neat to
see something at least , the lady was
probably faking the pulling hair i bet,
hopefully your next time is better and
there is some sort of activity going on iw
ould be so let down going out there and
nothing.

Oh poo! That sure stinks! What a huge
disappointment! I hope you and Steve
didn't lose too money to go
There is an oooooooold hotel in my city,
that's been closed for years....and just
after I graduated high school (2000) a
couple of my friends went there to check
it out and I guess they saw some spooks.
There is a store across the street (these
buildings are in the downtown part of our
city) and I've waited in the care numerous
times while DH went in the store, just
watching to see if I could see SOMETHING
in the hotel....but I haven't. I don't
know what I'd do if I did. I'm sure I'd
have a mess to clean up LOL.

would be awesome!
