When Are Most Babies Born In Relation to Expected Due Date? Posted: 07-26-07 15:28pm
I have heard most women who are having
their first babies will normally have the
baby AFTER their due date (not the 100%
rule....but mostly).
Could a first-time mother have the baby
early naturally (meaning without being
induced)? If so, is this something the
doctor would be able to know 3-4 months
before the due date? Or is that
suspicious?
I understand if you are being induced you
don't normally know that until a few weeks
before you are due so if they are telling
a woman 3-4 months before the due date
that they may be having the baby earlier
than initial due date I assume that means
that is because they misdiagnosed the age
of the baby, conception date, etc?

any baby can be born early naturally, 1st
baby, 2nd baby, 14th baby.
A doctor wouldn't know 3-4 months in
advance that a baby will come early, they
give estimated due dates based onthe
measurements taken during in u/s scans
which are reasonably accurate.
Sometimes they do change the estimated
date at a later scan, this is rarely
anything more than a week either side and
maybe the result of the first dating scan
being done a bit too early to get the best
measurements.
