i personally think that they are adults..
and know the difference between right and wrong
and should be punished for their wrong actions..
idk..
maybe for having cocaine on you and driving under the influence?..
not that it's going to stop them from doing it again..
but it should atleast open their eyes a lil bit

I don't know any of the stories but I'm confused as to why these people are famous? I have people I look up to and are famous, but I could give a crap less about their personal lives. I don't care what they wear, where they eat, who said what, etc. etc. Just do your job, make me happy and move on. Just my opinion.

oh yeah definately

if a normal average joe is driving drunk and has coke in his pocket then he will go to jail
but you probably wont hear about it on the news....

however lindsey goes to jail and BAM!!!! all the news stations have it on TV

she messed up
so she goes to jail
and now she has to pay for it because everyone is watching her
the world knows what shes done and now she will be remembered for that for the rest of her life

i think drug addicts are drug addicts no matter how famous, rich, good looking or talented they are. (not that i think any of the ones you mentioned are talented, lol). i think the media and the public love a train wreck, especially when it is a young, rich, pretty and skinny train wreck. that's why we don't see the paparazzi following around a lot of the celebrities who live more normal lives. i think it's unfortunate that drugs and addiction are being glamourized because the media doesn't really focus on that being the root of the problem. we see these girls as being popular and in demand, driving expensive cars, having assistants and wearing expensive clothing and accessories. if we view them that way from a distance, just imagine what living that life must be doing to their egos. i have to feel a bit sorry for them attempting to quit the drugs in that environment of yes people and hangers on and media attention. you can't rehab yourself when your head is that big and your life is that chaotic. the media and the people around them, and us, the people that are so eager to read and talk about them, are all benefiting from them staying messed up because it provides entertainment and money making opportunities. its just sad all around.

i am so glad that you brought that up..
b/c right now if i was a 14yr. old girl i would be all over Lindsay Lohan,
Hillary Duff, Miley Syrus, and so on...
but these 14yr. old girls that are idolizing the celebrities are not picking good role models..
i think its sad that they have to plaster it all over the tv (nbc, msnbc, abc)... and not even think twice about the "preteens" that are watching it and getting ideas about drugs and alcohol...

i think it's disgusting and i think nicole should go to jail for longer than 4 days. if it was just someone normal driving down the wrong side of the street while high or drunk they'd be sent to jail for a long while, but because it's nicole richie she only goes for less than a week.

i also think that she got pregnant on purpose so that she wouldnt go to jail for longer. i readin a magazine that they "thought it was a good time to start trying" umm yeah you know why Rolling Eyes

but see thats the real world
thats life
they are clebrities and that will never change
they have a reputation and sure girls look up to them but it cant be changed
you cannot force a child to not like somebody
when i was little i loved brittany spears
however i never wanted to dress like her or act like her

i love nicole richie
but she has no effect on my life or what i do or wear or say

i am my own indiviual person and i think that these girls who let these stars control their lives are crying for attention because they arent getting enough from the real people in their lives that matter

my mom is my idol

i think thast the way it should be

I am glad you brought this up, Martha, as I wanted to ask about celebrities as well.

Do you think that celebrities are somewhat above the law for all that they have to deal with and the invasion of privacy? Or, do you think that celebrities (and especially sports stars) should have a higher measure of behavior since children view them as idols and people to look up to?

For example, Barry Bonds is about to break the record for home runs, but he has been accused of doping. Is this the kind of sports hero we want for kids? Who really wants their daughter idolizing Paris Hilton and Broccoli Spears?

I can honestly say that if I committed a crime when I was pregnant I would have gone to jail. I wouldn't have been given a break.

If you're going to do the crime, you should do the time.

what i was saying is the media is putting too much attention on drugs and alcohol...making it look "cool" to drink and drive...

i IDOLIZED britney spears when i was little i had all her cds everything.. and i thought everything she did was wonderful...

yes it is the real world.. i see drugs and alcohol everyday!
but at 14 i had no idea what cocaine, pot, or even wine coolers were...

i think the media should focus more on how and why they wanted to become famous, what they do for school, and how much stress it puts on their lives instead of..

"OMG LOOK LINDSAY GOT CAUGHT DRINKING AND DRIVING WITH COKE IN HER POCKET..." for days and days...

my sister is a drug addict and alcoholic and to be honest, when i see britney spears she just reminds me of her. the way that someone can totally transform into a different person because of drugs. the way they pick people to be around that are toxic and tell them what they want to hear and shut out the people who really love them but know that they are completely messed up and can't just sit by and watch it happen. the way their children become less and less of a priority and they just can't seem to do anything reasonable anymore. even the way they can't seem to get their look together anymore. the difference is that my sister doesn't have endless money and employees to keep her distanced from the reality of how screwed up her life gets when she is using. she will hit bottom and come looking for the family who she knows really love her. she can go to rehab and be humble enough for it to work for a little while. but the drugs always seem to win in the end.

eh
its all the media had to focus on these days

really if you watch the news youd see how depressing it is

"12 people died today in iraq..."
" 3 teens killed in a drunk driving accident"
"lindsay lohan went to jail today for possesion and driving drunk and being a dumb b**** and chaseing somebodys car..."

why cant they show the good stuff?

drugs are everywhere and i agree it shouldnt be broadcasted on TV for everyone in the world to see
they should put her in jail...leave it alone
what does it matter to us what shes doing or what she did? it doesnt have a positive effect on us when they tell us abou it so why tell us at all?

because...drugs run society
lets put this on TV and in the magazeins so all the little teens and tweens can see it
then maybe we can sucker them in too

i wish that the media would focus more on the TRUTH of the war
than what celebrities are doing..

i swear i heard about Anna Nicole Smith for atleast 2months...
it got old really fast
you don't hear about everyone who is found dead in a motel room for 2months... so why her?..
b/c shes famous and they're filling time so they don't have to tell the whole truth about the war.

i think people also enjoy that vulnerability in a beautiful woman. it's not as appealing when its a man. but you look at lindsay lohan and she really is a beautiful mess. she looks messed up in her mug shot, but i wish i had hair like her. lol. stupid huh? but even back when marylin monroe was staggering around in a daze, people couldn't take their eyes off of her. you look at edie sedgwick being a living work of art but she couldn't even stand up on her own a lot of the time. you look at someone like courtney love and see where all the drugs can take you, but while they are young and pretty it just seems a lot more appealing. it's all surface and you don't get to feel the emotions and thoughts they've got going on inside. and when they try to speak out about them they get laughed at.
