Effect of ovarian serous cyst adenoma on my cycle, fertility
Posted: 07-28-07 04:53am

i had a large 23lb ovarian serous cyst adenoma removed along with my left ocary and fallopian tube when i was 22 weeks pregnant. i am currently 40 weeks pregnant. i am wondering what changes might i notice once i get back into my menstruation cycle. the doctors tell me i probably had the cyst for over 5 years and looking back, my cycles were very irregular and long (38 days at times) , i had heavy bleeding and painful cramping. i began taking birth control pills to help regulate my cycle and help with the other problems. i was also tested a few times for hypothyroidism because of other symptoms i had and was found to have a slightly underactive thyroid but nothing enough to treat. i wonder now if those symptoms, like hair loss, fatigue, depression and other things like stomach problems, could have been related to this large cyst. i am just worried about the effect on my cycle, fertility and overall health once i have had the baby and my body begins to return to it's normal state

Ovarian tumors can cause cycle irregularities only when hormonally active. Hair loss can be due to excessive production of male hormones. Depression can be due to the birth control pills, pregnancy or hypothyroidism. Stomach (abdominal) problems can be due to the tumor’s largeness. It seems that many of your symptoms would be gone after tumor removal and baby delivery.
