36 Week Appointment Posted: 07-30-07 16:49pm
I am going for an appointment at the
doctors tomorrow for a group b strep test.
Might they check to see if I am dialated
or effaced of anything?
The reason I am asking is because I keep
feeling this weird sharp pain in my vagina
(all the way inside)- I am not sure if it
is my cervix but it feels like it might
be. It has been happening for about 2
weeks now, just a few times during the
day, like a sting or something, I'm not
sure how to describe it.
I heard it could be the baby dropping, or
something with the cervix, or just the
baby hitting nerves. I'll ask tomorrow
but I was wondering if anyone has any
personal experience with this feeling.
Thanx!

Hi Katie!! Funny thing that you should ask
about this pain, b/c I just asked my
doctor 2 weeks ago about the exact same
thing. I said it felt like someone was
trying to stick something up there and
scarpe something out - like a sahrp
stinging pain that lasted for a couple of
seconds and then went away!?!
I am also going for my group B strep test
on Thursday morning!!!
My doctor checked me (not an internal
though) and told me that it could be my
pubic symphasis seperating and it is
probably the ligaments and muscled that I
am feeling that is causing the pain!
I aske dhim about "dropping" and he said
that alot of the time, most women do not
know that they have dropped or will have
felt it until they go into labour - or
unless you are having your 2nd +
child......not sure though, as many of my
g/f's felt the baby "drop"?!!!!
Let me know what your doctor says, as it
sounds like we are going through the exact
same thing.......glad that it's not just
me - although I wish yuo didn't have the
pain, b/c it does hurt!!!!!!
Good luck at the doctor's

does it feel like the baby is trying to
dig their way out?
i *hated* that! sometimes it was
so sharp it made me jump and yelp.
when i went for my gbs test i asked if she
would check me since i was already spread
eagle on the table. she wasn't going to
but did since i asked.

i know that feeling. like the baby is
puching down and pressing it's head
against your bones and between your legs.
right now i feel like my pelvis is being
pulled apart and like i've pulled muscles
in both of my inner thighs. i've had
these feelings for a long time now but
they just slowly have gotten worse. but
they say sometimes that can be a good
thing because things are happening
gradually and may mean an easier labour.
you can always hope for the best right?
oh and that kind of stinging thing you get
on your cervix, yeah, i've jumped up and
yelped a few times in the middle of the
night from that, lol. then it just goes
away and you don't know when it will
happen again. i don't even know what
that's from.

I get my GBS test done on Thursday too!
My doctor said that she will check me
then.
I get the sharp stabbing pains too. I hope
that they go away but I know that they
will be gone soon regardless so eh, I am
just waiting them out.

I went for my check up yesterday and you
wouldn't believe what happened.
I was sitting there for like an hour,
figuring, you know, they're busy, because
it was an afternoon appointment. Then the
whole place was empty and I went to the
desk and the b*tch was like, "oh we never
pulled your chart whoopsie". I was sooo
mad.
Anyways, that pain is just the baby
putting pressure on my cervix. I heard
once that it might be your cervix
dialating, which it wasn't because he said
it was closed tight. To be honest, I was
hoping it wasn't, but I have a feeling my
baby is gonna be a 42 weeker!
Talk to you ladies again soon!

Katie
A few weeks ago I showed up to my
appointment and they looked at me really
funny. They started talking amongst
themselves and I realized that they hadn't
even put me in the computer. I had the
card saying that my appointment was on
that day and at that time so they had to
squeeze me in. It took them almost 2 hours
to get everything done with me because I
had to wait while my dr was helping other
people. It was so boring and I was so mad
that I started crying on the way home. Now
I always ask them if they put me into the
computer
