The question is, that my grandfather and
went to subway , and got seafood, and tuna
subs with various veggies. Later in the
day and the following two days we got very
ill, only, there was no throwing up, no
watery stools. Only moderate to strong
cramping pian, excess stinky gas,
constipation and stinky stools, and mild
fever and chills. We assumed that in a
while it would pass and go away. While the
worst of the infection seems to be over,
it seems to occur agian, though much more
mildly, every time food is eaten, or at
random periods during the day. I Was
wondering if an antibiotic would help, or
if its anything serious. The symptoms have
been persisting for about 14 days so
far.

The most common diagnostic symptom of an
intestinal infection is frequent watery
stools (diarrhea), which is missing in you
and your grandfather's case. Abdominal
cramps, throwing up and fever may be
present but not always. Fever and chills
indicate that you might be experiencing
some type of infection but lack of
diarrhea indicates that the infection is
not intestinal. Other symptoms (cramps
and constipation) could be due to an
infection outside the intestinal tract.
Maybe there is no infection at all but you
both experienced a non-infective
poisoning. You can request standard blood
analyses to confirm an infection. Then , a
microbiological examination of the stool
is used to confirm, deny, or identify
possible intestinal infection.
