So I'm 20 weeks 6 days pregnant (EDD is Dec. 12), and yesterday was my big ultrasound. Just thought I'd share with everyone here:

The main thing is the baby is healthy and normal...

And I was right! It's a girl! I've had strong girl vibes since the beginning of this pregnancy, and I guess my intuition was correct. We are thrilled with a healthy baby and to be having a daughter. Now, we need to decide on a name! We had a possible boy's name all picked out, but we need to go back to the name books for the girl's name!

The heartbeat was 158 bpm, and she weighs 12 oz. She is measuring right on time. She wasn't terribly active at the beginning of the ultrasound though she did yawn and get the hiccups. But when the tech was trying to snap shots of the face profile, she started moving about and then turned herself over.

Here are the best pics:

Full view of the body (probably my favorite shot):

Profile shot of the face (she was moving & it was hard to get a good pic):

And the money shot--of course, some resolution is lost scanning in the image; a little arrow between the legs points to the girl parts, it looks like 2 hamburger buns with a patty between:

Thanks! No, we're still thinking of names. We did have a boy's name picked out, but nothing for a girl. We're thinking about Molly maybe but still need a middle name, and nothing is set in stone yet.

Beautiful she looks very comfy in there.

only 17 days until my 1st Ultrasound!

(Do you still need to have a full bladder for the 20 week one?)

Oh man, sorry to ask so many questions but does that thing get pressed hard on your stomach, I'm scared of having to go really badly and ruining the scan because they can't get pictures. Plus they want me to bring an early morning urine sample (my appointment is 9.00am) so I'll need to drink loads.

The ultrasound does not hurt at all. They just run the thingy over your belly. Kinda like someone running a hand over your belly. No pressure at all.

I did not need a full bladder for this ultrasound, nor for the one they did at 11 weeks (that was also abdominal). I think a lot of it depends on the quality of equipment they have, I'm also pretty thin, so maybe that makes a difference. I guarantee you, I peed like 5 minutes before this u/s was done!
