Okay, here's my problem. Back near the end
of April i choked on a piece of stew meat
and some rice, though i was eatting like i
normally do. The strange part about the
choking accident was the fact that i
wasn't literally choking as i could still
breath if i took a breath through my nose,
yet, i couldn't get my food either. Now,
i'm a "smacker", usual eatting with my
mouth open to begin with as i breath
through my mouth constantly from my
constant sinus infections as a child.
Now, before you ask, yes i've had both my
toncils and those things in my nose (can't
remember what their called exactly)
removed, which puzzled even my doctor. Now
since i didn't have insurance, and still
don't, i've been forced to seek my medical
help through the state hospitials, which,
as you can imagine, is rather slow.
Anyways, at first, they figuared G.E.R.D.
and a possibility of a hiatel(sp?) hernia
after performing a barium(sp?) swallow
x-ray and placed me on nexium once a day.
They also made me an appointment with what
was supposed to be a gastronologist, but
turned out to be one of their many
specialists (i'm still not sure what his
specialty is) who at first thought it was
all in my head and suggested i start out
slow and work my way back up. I tried it,
and about nearly a month later, i choked
again, this time on a dime size piece of
chicken, the choking happening the same as
before.
Well, i went back to eating cream of wheat
as it seems to be the easiest to get down
and it keeps me from getting really weak,
and i also added nutrition drinks and
whole milk to my diet to keep up my
strength since the cream of wheat alone
wasn't doing it. It's been four months now
since the first choking accident, and
nothings changed. Everytime i try to go
back to eating, everythings fine for a
week or so, and it happens again.
But lately i've noticed this constant
pulling feeling, like a suction of sorts
pulling the inside of my throat down, as
well as a slight sore throat feeling
accompanied by my swallowing getting worse
and worse with each passing day. Luckily,
the diet i'm on now that i mentioned above
has kept my weight up and my strength as
well, though these weak days are coming in
more frequently and my aggravation with
this whole mess grows with it.
In the past four months i've seen the
specialist three times, been to the ER
atleast a dozen times at three different
hospitals, and have visited two
psychologists over this and still nothing
has been found. I have asked to see an ENT
doctor as well as a gastronologist, but
the promises of seeing them have not been
kept so far. But that could be because of
it being through the state hospitals.
I've had suggestions from friends of the
family, ranging from pollups in my throat
to even throat cancer itself. Can anyone
shed some light on this for me? At 22
years old, i shouldn't be having this sort
of problems, as well as being kept from
working when i have 2 year old i have to
look after.

hello scorpioloisiana
Ask one of the doctors to test for strep
c. In the back of your throat attached to
your tounge is another call it tonsil if
you will. Maybe that is swelling in the
back of your throat and making you choke.
Strep c is not the same a strep a strep a
is common type.
