Starting last week I had some upper
abdominal issues... thought I had an ulcer
and went to the regular Dr. Still awaiting
blood test results on that. Anyway, a few
days later I started having lower
abdominal pain as well. It's basically
just an ache on my left side. Yesterday it
felt like period cramps (period is at
least 10 days away), and has felt like a
slight burning sensation on and off. Today
no cramps, but still the burning
sensation. This has been going on for
several days now.
I am 29. My mom has had ovarian cysts, my
sister was hospitalized for a ruptured one
a couple months ago. She was naseous and
vomiting for 2 weeks from it.
I'm pretty convinced that's what this is,
but it still freaks me out a bit. Would
rather not go to the Dr. and waste my
money. The hospital did nothing for my
sister except give her pain medication and
IV fluids because she couldn't eat. She
was still ill when she was released...
basically they told her there was nothing
they could do. She had to live with it
until it went away. So, I'm leery of going
in and being subjected to costly tests.
It's not that painful, just uncomfortable.
I will go to the Dr. if it persists...
just wondering how long do you think I
should wait? I know these things usually
heal on their own. Should I wait until
after my period and if it still is there,
then go? What is a usual amount of time it
takes for these things to resolve?

Ovarian Cysts Posted: 08-18-07 23:50pm
I have had ovarian cysts before and a
couple weeks ago, I went in because I had
a ache on my left side and pain radiating
down my right leg, it felt the same as
before when I had cysts and the Doctor
checked me and it turned out to be a
bladder infection.
