Is It Herpes Or a Skin Condition ? Posted: 08-04-07 16:13pm
Recently I noticed a brown spot where my
thigh meets my groin, it does not itch or
cause any pain and if I hadn't looked I
may never have noticed it. There seems to
be a slightly raised area on one side of
it and the skin feels very smooth to the
touch in the area.
I also have experienced some very mild
itching feelings on my inner thighs though
it happens occasionally and is ignorable.
I have had one sexual encounter and I did
use a condom, but are these early signs of
genital herpes or is it something like
jock itch?

Genital herpes is more centered ... well,
nearer the genitals and manifest with a
hot lesion that becomes full of pus that
eventually breaks and heals. Have you
seen a dermatologist?

I haven't had any lesions filled with pus,
haven't gotten around to seeing a
dermatologist, the itching seems to have
subsided since then however.

It is still slightly discolored, the area
is small, not even the size of a dime and
is still very smooth, but that's been
there for almost a month, my understanding
was even if it is a sore, aren't those
supposed to heal in a week or two?

I guess my train of thought, which is
hopeful, is that I read somewhere your
first outbreak occurs within 3 or 4 weeks
or being infected, this showed up about 8
months after.

Yep. It might be an allergic reaction or
another dermatological condition. I once
had ringworm, which produces a circular
raised area that is reddish brown on the
skin. You might want to check with a
dermatologist ... let us know!
