cerebral palsy and persistant burning / hot / heavy feeling Posted: 03-15-04 05:06am
Hello,
i am a 34 year old active femaile with
cerebral palsy. In my early 20's I needed
to have an ileostormy done because my
bowels stopped functioning.
Over the last 5 years or more, I have had
persistant burning/hot/heavy feeling just
below my breat bone. I often do not feel
hungery, burb a lot, am nausus, and often
have some food come back up my throat
after eatting or drinking. It can happen
right after eating or dinking or within
the next hour upon finishining food and/or
drink.
I have been tested for your typical
gallbladder problems. I also have been
tested for gerd which I do not have. I
must say though, I am a little curious
about the results I received when I was
having one type of gallbadder test done.
The later part of the test involved the
injection of something to cause my
gallbadder to contract. It was while
this "stuff" was being injected into my
body that I suddenly felt the nausa, heavy
feeling in the same place under my breat
bone. I also started to belch a lot like
I had just swallowed loads of air (which I
had not). I also started to gag like I
was about to vomit, but because you can
not eat or drink so many hours before the
test, there was nothing to thorw up!
Later, I asked my doctor what she thought
of what happened soon after I was injected
with that "stuff" to make my gallbadder
contract. She replied that my gallbadder
and its functioning is just fine and that
what I had experiencecd was just an over
excited gallbadder.
Needless to say, I still have the problem
and often have diffulty maintaning my
weight because I am alway feeling nausus.
Eating greesy foods or foods high in fat
will often agervate the symptoms.
I am wondering if there is such a thing as
a spastic gallbadder? If so, what can be
done to treat its symptoms?
My doctor will not even discuss this with
me anymore. While I can understand her
fustrations, I too must fine a solution or
treatment that can help eliviate my
symptoms.
I just want to feel better!
Thanks in advance to those who answer.
P.S. I mentioned my cerebral pasly and
ileostomy because I am not sure if one or
both could be contributing to my symptoms.
