i just figured since its injected into your blood stream, and by donating blood your body has to make fresh blood to replace it...therefore thinning out the injection...
this would make sense to me, unless the shot itself only stops production of eggs and all, and is therefore no longer needed in the blood stream...

i dont know, but i dont want to be at risk either, ya know?

Depo
Posted: 08-18-07 17:01pm

my wife as been on depo for several years. VERY moody, mood swings, and no sex life. may or may not be depo, but she is not the person that i married anymore. She absolutely refuses to get off of it (because of no period). i spoke with her doc and she has hidden or isn't aware of these issues. Doc wants her off of this. she has now said she cant trust this doc and will go to a different one. almost acts like an addict. we are on the verge of divorce and this is my last effort at trying to keep marrage going for our 5 yr old daughter. any help is appreciated. thanks

It doesn't really stay in your blood, and actually, I think it's injected into your muscles... (maybe someone who is more medically inclined should answer this lol) but things in your blood get absorbed, they don't just float around in your blood forever.

I don't think it's a problem at all.

You can't just assume it is the depo- it could be, but if she doesn't want to get off it I'd go about it a different way.

Have a heart to heart with her, tell her you are worried about the relationship and that you want to be able to have the same kind of relationship that you had before. Make sure not to make her think you are blaming it on her because it can't be all her fault, relationships are 50/50. Be willing to change yourself a little too. Suggest marriage counseling. A therapist will be able to objectively decide if a medication change is needed or if there is an underlying condition (depression?) or if you just need to work on your relationship.

Don't go behind her back and talk to her doctor, I'd be pissed if you did that too!! But I understand your concern. You just need to go about it a different way.
