One Year Old Not Eatting. Posted: 08-06-07 19:59pm
I have a 13 month old and she has gained
just one pound since her 6th month
checkup. They tested for cystic fibrosis
and did blood work, everything came out
fine. She is very active and develping at
everything else. Although she is just now
getting her first tooth.
She use to have an appetite and would eat
a wide variety of foods but for the last
month the Dr. has put her on pediasure and
I can't get her to eat anything. She has
referred me to a nutritionist and a GI dr
but the nutritionist can see me for two
more months and the GI in five months.
What am I suppose to do in the mean time.
She only weights 16lbs 5ounces. Help

i would keep persivering with the food, i
know it can be hard, babies can be
stubborn as hell! william went through a
thase of not eating, it ended up being
tonsilitus and he still has his bad spouts
of not eating. try giving your toddler
more milk, i know your baby is over a year
but its more nutrition if the food isnt
working and then wait until you see the
nutriionist again

I have a 17 month old who eats very
little. She has just hit 20 lbs. i was
told to keep asking if you are hungary and
try playing games with food. and it seems
to work some days. and try to avoid giving
alot of fluids because they fill up on
that. She goes back to the dr on the 21st
of the month. lets keep in touch

What She Has Eatten. Posted: 08-07-07 17:05pm
Let's see two days ago she didn't eat
anything but a few cherrios and only drank
20 oz. (the dr. wants her drinking 30)
Yesterday she ate 1/4 of a grilled cheese
sandwhich. Drank about 26oz.
Today she had half a fish stick and a few
cherrios. Drank 18 oz.
I offer her lots of food and multiple
times a day. I can't get her to drink from
a sippie cup to save my life. I don't know
what I am suppose to do if I can't see a
nutritionist for another 2 months. I
have called my pediatrician to express
concern with how far away the appt is but
she has yet to return my call. I don't
think it is teething because this has gone
on for over a month. I also think it is
strange that she is just now getting her
first tooth and there are no signs of
anymore coming. It is just so fustrating I
am married but my husband lives over seas
and I am doing it all on my own. I never
have a clean kitchen because I make six
meals aday. I wouldn't mind if she would
just eat it. We waste food left and
right.
So furstrated.

My 13 Month Old Only Weighs 16lbs 3ozs Posted: 10-21-07 18:49pm
Hi there,
I understand all your
frustrations!!!!!!!!! I have two daughters
and my first one was also a non-eater. I
used to get really upset when I cooked
meals and she didn't even taste it. Now
with my second one I try not to let it get
to me but every so often I worry about her
low weight gain. I too have gone through
blood tests with both my daughters and
thank God nothing has turned up. My older
one who is 4years old eats a few things
now but I spoon feed her almost every meal
while she gazes at the tv. The doctor is
not worried about her weight anymore
although she is still small at only 30 1/2
lbs. I just pray that my second daughter
will gain weight too without any
complications. I am really interested to
know how your appointment goes with the
nutritionist as my doctor has never
suggested that I see one. Just a small tip
to try that both my girls like ( at
times). Its called Ditalini pasta and it
is easy for toddlers to finger feed
themselves.............make sure to cook
it a little more than the box suggests and
then put a lot of butter on it and just
throw it out on the high chair tray and
leave your child to pick it up on his/her
own. Try washing dishes or something and
pretend that you are not noticing. Hope it
works!
