Skip Placebo Week And Wait Till Following Week? Help!! Posted: 08-07-07 20:41pm
Hi everyone, I'm researching as my Wife
thinks she is Dr Wife MD and I know
absolutely nothing. (Which she is right to
some account). She says shes been on the
pill since she was 16 and knows everything
there is to know about it. That said, I
don't feel the same way.
So I ask two questions.
First, she thinks that if she "Skips" the
placebo pills (4th week pills) and takes
"NO" pills during that time that she can
not get pregnant? Because all the pills
do, is kick start her period. Then after
that week of missing the 4th week pills
she can just start her new pack? This
doesn't make any sense to me, as how are
you protected if you aren't taking the
designed pills? Is she protected from
getting pregnant when not taking her 4th
week pills, and taking no pills until the
following week?
Second question.
This word "Sugar Pill" she refers to them
as, are these truly "Sugar" pills or is
this some nickname someone made up?
Because this sugar pill name i think is
party to blame on why she thinks question
number one above is valid? I think this is
not a "Sugar" pill, and think it does have
some significant value.
Thanks for any help!!
And no we don't need a marriage counselor.

Your wife is right. The last week of pills
in her pack are inactive. They are called
reminder pills normally and are put there
to keep you in the act of taking a pill
everday. It will not lower the
effectiveness of the pill if she does not
take the last row of pills. You are
totally fine and can just calm down. I did
the same thing for four years of taking my
bc pills.

The fourth row of pills really are sugar
pills and don't do anything. They are just
there to keep you in the habit of taking
the pills. It doesn't matter if you take
them or not.
Maybe you should trust your wife more?? Or
read the instructions they'll say the same
thing.
