Pets And Small Cell Lung Cancer
Posted: 08-09-07 02:53am

My father in law has just been dignosed with small cell anaplastic carcinoma of the lungs. Some friends have told us that once he goes back home (he is still in hospital from biopsy operation), he will have to get rid of their 4 year old cat due to infections that the cat might induce.

Do you know of this is true or at least recommended by doctors? I have tried to research the internet but I did not find any relevant information.

thank you for your replies if any.

Hi there, dont know if this helps, but my mum had sclc and at no time did anyone ask her about pets. I am a nurse myself and have never heard of this (im not an expert though). I think it would do your father in law more harm from a psychological point of view to get rid of a much loved pet. My advice is to ask his doctor about this specifically. Good luck.
