Are People Meaner When Your Pregnant? Posted: 08-10-07 01:15am
ok i don't think i'm being oversensitive,
but why do people feel that if your
pregnant they can tell you all your flaws
and you won't feel insulted by it? I
don't know about anybody else but i've
noticed that people tell you things that
they normally wouldn't say if you weren't
pregnant. Like my face, feet and ankles
are swollen, so why must everyone point
out how swollen you are everytime they see
you. If your friend just got her wisdom
teeth out and her face was swollen you
wouldn't say to her "wow your face is
huge, or it looks like a thousand bees
stung your face". I'm finding that my
family or just people i know who have not
seen me in a while have no problem
pointing out the obvious, and i already
don't feel to sexy having my face
ballooned out the way it is. Or if i have
someone else say to me are you having
twins or wow you must be having a huge
baby, i swear i am going to smack the hell
out of them lol. I am proud of my preggy
belly, but i don't like hearing how huge i
am all the time. Do people think that
it's a compliment? Now it's not like
people are saying to me wow chantal you
have a cute baby bump, no i'm getting wow
you are huge, look how big your belly is
or wow that will be hard to work off after
baby. ughh sorry for the rant but why are
people so stupid! You wouldnt say to
someone you know or in your family wow you
must have gained weight because that is
rude. I don't know maybe it's because i'm
overdue and getting frustrated, but has
anybody been experiencing this or do all
the stupid blunt people just say these
things to me lol....

they think it as a compliment, even how
irritating it may feel. they think it as a
good thing that you're getting bigger,
which it is. make the most of them
complimenting you, once the baby comes,
they'll be awwing the baby constantly

true... i guess. I know the baby will get
all the attention afterwards lol. But i
still think there are better ways for
people to comment on your pregnancy. Like
i said i do love my pregnant belly, but on
those days when you don't feel so hot and
someone says something like wow your huge,
is not complimenting lol. I don't know...

they don't see it as being rude, and i'm
sure they aren't trying to be rude, when
they say it it's probably because they're
so surprised, you are only this way for a
short time, and they've probably never
seen you this way before, so they're
probably surprised at how big you are, or
concerned at how swollen your ankles are.
but someone saying "wow that'll be hard to
work off after your baby" i think that's
uncalled for lol I'm sure you look great.

I'm in the same boat. My belly is about
the size of a 6 month pregnant lady, and
i'm only 5 months. But they say. OMG your
going to be so huge! Wow you having twins?
Triplets? Umm no. lol Drives me crazy.

i keep getting people telling me i am big,
but i am just straight out and on the
smaller side anyways so i look bigger! and
i am real low so everyone is like oh it
must be a boy! i am like no a girl, and
they look at me like i am crazy and tell
me oh well she is ready to come then. i
just get tired of people always thinking
they know better than me about my own
body. even though i know they mean nothing
by it.
