Pregnant And Bipolar
Posted: 08-11-07 11:27am

I need to talk to someone who has been through this. I am pregnat and I have bipolar disorder. I am dying to find someone out there that knows what this is like and understands how difficult it is to manage mental illness coupled with pregnancy hormones. It's very hard! I have questions and I may even be able to answer someone elses questions. I am also a recovering addict/alcoholic. PLEASE HELP! anyone? Sad

I know exactly how you feel. i'm between 13-14 weeks. and i'm bipolar and it seems like i'm always depressed. and my pregnancy has been hard enough. and my boyfriend isn't making matters any better. He gets frustrated when I cry and we've been arguing alot. It's been so hard on me i've contemplated suicide. I seriously have felt like i've had enough. I wish people understood more.

Soooooo glad I saw this post!

I just found out tonight that I'm pregnant. It sounds so funny to say, "I'm pregnant", because I never planned or expected to have children. This was a totally "oops!"

Here's the thing....a couple of weeks ago, even though I was dutifully taking all my meds, I seriously thought I was losing my mind! It was totally different from any thing I've ever experienced before! Guess that was my body adjusting to the hormones. (I'm about 3-4 weeks now)

I'm worried about my Meds, have I already damaged the baby?? I'm calling my Dr. tomorrow, but I'm freaking out wondering what damage I could have already done!

I am on meds and pregnant. My doctor says that there are risks of being on meds, BUT there are ALSO risks of going off your meds. My doctor says that there are risks to the baby either way. Definately talk with your doctor!!! I have to stay on meds because I am a danger to myself off of them. It's hard to weigh it out. Don't change anything until you talk to your doctor. A lot of women don't even know they're pregnant at 4wks, so don't sweat it! your baby has not been harmed!

I am 34 weeks pregnant & have bipolar also. I'm having a really tough time & could really use some friends to talk to that would understand what I'm going through.

Thanks,

Joni
