I have been disabled and receving my
monthly benefit from UNUM which is 60% of
my pay. This barely covers my bills. Now I
am still disabled and will be receving
SSDI and SSDI will be much lower than what
I am receving now from UNUM.
I will hae to move into something smaller,
get rid of my vehicle and watch my utility
bills.
I was wondering if this is what yall did
as in get rid of your vehicle since now I
know i cannot afford it, If i do will it
show on my credit and how am I going to
get to my doctor appoinments? Is there any
help available with all this?

Dear NCMAN919:
I'm not sure what to do about the car
problem except to try and sell it for cash
as a used car. But if you are switching to
SSDI, you should be eligible for Medicare
or Medicaid depending on your age. They
provide taxi services to and from doctor
appointments. For other transportation
needs, you will likely need to rely on
family, friends, and public
transportation. If you receive medical
care through a local hospital, check to
see if they have a case worker who can
assist you in locating resources in your
area. All the best to you.
