Been On Depo Shot 2yrs Wanna Switch 2 Pill

Well I.ve been on depo for 2 yrs and
although its very conveniant I'm afraid
that if I stay on the shot for another
couple of yrs I.ll go infertile. That's
why I.ve decided to switch to. A lower
dose form of birthcontrol. But I'm also
thinking of sticking wit the shot ever
since I had a pregnancy scare last week
and my boyfriend didn't emotionally
support me when I told him what if
something were to happen. Yea its a long
story but if you wanna read it its under
relationships and marriage.
So now I'm stuck between wanting to switch
so that in the far future if I decide I
want kids I.ll be able to lol or to stick
wit the shot so that I'm absolutely sure
that I won't get pregnant and not throw
another burden on my boyfriend (he's got
one kid already from when he was 18 from a
girl he messed around with) and yes I told
him this sarcastically because I was
crushed and pissed and to top it off all
I got was him holding my hand and gently
squeesing it.
I'm getting off topic I'm sorry it still
kinds hurts. Anyways is it a good idea to
switch? Would I still be protected if I
switched?

There is no fear of becoming infertile on
depo. But if you want to switch I'll help
you with that. Depo does not make women
infertile. It can take a year or so after
stopping it to become pregnant, but it
certainly doesn't make you infertile.

It depends on how you switch, and you'd
have to ask your ob-gyn for more info on
that. I think that if you started active
pills as your shot expires and you're due
for a new one that you should be totally
safe, but I'm no doctor.

Depo doesn't make you infertile! It may
cause bone density problems if you are on
it for a long time, but it will NOT make
you infertile.
Sorry about your problems with your
boyfriend!

Depo can cause infertility it happened to
my sister. Why do you think I'm so worried
about it i got off depo in nov 06 because
of what happened to her and i still
haven't gotten my period i was on depo for
3 years just like her. I would so switch
asap but definitely consult your doctor
ont he best way to do it dont just do it
all by yourself. But bottom line it can
cause you to be infertile get off depo.

Okay, I'm sick of telling you not to type
in caps.
Don't do it.
Depo does NOT make EVERY user infertile.
If that was a common side effect, do you
think it would be legal? No. How long have
you been waiting for your period? It can
take up to two years.
You are not a doctor, so please stop
advising women what to do with their
choice of birth control. I'm sorry, but
your experiences are actually the
exception, not the norm.

Well you shouldnt be telling women that
they CANT become infertile when it happen
right in my family.
I think your being alil harsh and depo
wasnt approved by the FDA right away. My
gyno wont even give Depo to new customers
becuase of horrible it is.

No medicine is approved "right away" by
the FDA, they all have to go through years
of rigorous testing before they are
approved.

Yes, the hormone in Depo (but not Depo
itself) - which, by the way, your BODY
produces naturally so it's not like you
have a choice about injecting it into your
body. It's already there whether you want
it to be there or not - was used to
"chemically castrate" prisoners convicted
of sexual crimes. It turns out that even
castrated, these men still returned to
being sexual predators, but it was an
attempt to find a non-lethal way to make
these sick-minded men safe to put back
into the real world.
I was ON Ortho Tricyclen Lo, and I loved
it. It was amazing; I've got absolutely NO
complaints about it. I personally had a
hard time remembering pills, so that's why
I've decided to switch to a more
long-lasting form of birth control, thus
Depo. I would have gotten Implanon but
it's not widely available in the USA yet.
The USA is so far behind when it comes
to birth control; implanon is very common
around the globe.

Will ortho help with the acne? Will it
help witht he weight gain form the depo?
And like i said before I was reading all
day about things trying to inform myself
and everyone says certain times that u
have to take the pill initially. In my
situation after i had my daughter i went
immediatly on meridan iud and when it
gotpulled out i went on depo so i have
never had a period so how do i know when
to start?
also i spoke with the gyno and they
mentioned a 7 day cycle i forget the name
of the drug that will make my period come
7-10 days after i take the last pill.
should i start that then go on ortho the
day my period starts or should i jsut try
to use the ortho to start my period im
jsut trying not to put to much''crap''
inmy body ya know.
oh the doctor called it amenarea i dont
know how to spell it but that is hwat she
told me and all my levls are out of wack.
i told her i have been off depo for a year
and she said that it wasnt normal
considering my circumstances i guess.
I guess that is why im so freaked out!!!!
Sorry abou eariler its just that my family
has alot of problem in the reproductive
areas and me and my boyfirend want a big
family. My apologies

It can; not every woman benefits this way
but many do, and orth lo is actully
prescribed as an acne medicine.

No. Like every other form of hormonal
birth control, orth can cause weight gain.

You don't have to start near your period.
Talk to your ob-gyn about this; it is
possible to start a pill at any time.

That sounds like a pill that encourages
ovulation, which might be nice for you if
you want a period just for your own peace
of mind.
All of these pills are natural hormones
that your body already has so there's no
fear of putting "crap" in it, lol.

Amenorrhea is the correct spelling. Your
hormone levels may indeed be out of
"whack", but one year off depo may not be
enough for you since you were on the shot
for three years. It is time to star taking
action though. Not to worry, but to simply
take steps to normalize your body again.

Talking to my ob-gyn about what was going
on. I think I would get the pill that
promotes ovulation to get a period, and
then get started on the pills.

Ortho however is less likely to cause
weight gain. Since depo is a progesterone
treatment, it (with the mini pill and
mirena and anything else with only
progesterone) is slightly more likely to
cause weight gain than combined hormone
pills.
But ortho won't make you lose weight,
that's for sure.

Actually the reason that depo had a
problem getting approved was because
women's rights activists wanted it off the
market. It seemed that less fortunate
populations in third world countries and
even mentally handicapped people in the US
were getting injected without knowing and
without being informed of the risks as a
form of sterilization, which is obviously
a violation of rights and discrimination.
It didn't have to do with it being a
questionable drug or anything.
And it's used to treat criminals simply
because it reduces sexual desire in men-
which makes perfect sense that if you give
a man progesterone his sexual desire will
decrease. It's not used because it's
dangerous, that would go against the
constitution. And they don't really do
that any more because it doesn't really
prevent them from doing the crime again.
And it is known to cause infertility-
temporary infertility for a short time
after getting off it. It is not clinically
shown to actually reduce fertility
indefinitely, or it wouldn't be allowed to
be sold. I've never had a doc (and I've
seen lots) who has said anything bad about
depo.
