See this is interesting because if you guys look at it, we do not congratulate women because they are pregnant, we only congratulate them when they are pregnant and we see that the woman has decided to continue with the pregnancy. If the same pregnant woman wants to abort then we do not congratulate them, but there really is not difference in the fetus. Moo again i'm happy that you are preggy I just can't help to see how funny it is the pro-choicer congratulating when they speak here that the embryo is something that don't even deserve to have the right to live. Then suddenly when the womans wants to continue pregnancy then they think it is special and go congratulate and say how wonderful. Hyprocites.

The difference comes with the choice of the woman, if a woman is happy to be pregnant then people congratulate them as it is something wanted.
When a woman is unhappily pregnant then people don't as the woman is clearly in a place where it would be inappropriate (I was congratulated once on my aborted pregnancy).

True it's no different for the z/e/f but being pro-choice is primarily concerned with the woman. I don't think it's hypocritical - pro-choice is about that - choice whether to abort, continue or continue and adopt. I can't honestly imagine anyone who has said congrats to me, who is pro-choice, was particularly concerned with my foetus, more the fact that I'm happy about it!

If a woman were being forced into an arranged marriage she doesn't want, I would not say "congratulations".

If a woman were marrying a man that she chose to marry and was happy to marry, I certainly would say "congratulations".

The difference is that the woman is happy/excited about the situation she is in, hence congratulations are in order. If she is not happy about the situation it wouldn't be appropriate to congratulate her.

Another example:

Woman A has been ttc for quite some time and gets her period. No congrats for that - af is just a reminder that she is not pregnant yet.

Woman B had a condom break and took the morning after pill but is still worried... until the day her period comes. She is happy and rejoices that af has arrived - congratulations are in order.

Correct...

We are congratulating MOO, not her embryo/fetus.

We are happy that SHE is happy, and that these are her wishes coming true.

I think its interesting how the fetus or unborn child can be seen as a material object like unwanted gift or a wanted gift. Honestly I think that is sick

Perhaps it isn't so much the embryo that she is being congradulated for but her Choice to gestate it. Let me reiterate. Her Chice. If she is joyfully looking forward to the pregnancy then yes, congradulations are in order.

Did that not occure to you Nightangel?

Congratulations are not given to 'money' when someone wins the lottery. We are not congratulating money for having a new 'owner', we are congratulating the person for winning.

THE PERSON who bought the ticket.

The person who is pregnant, NOT the embryo.

Yes that is what it occured so I wanted to point it out. It's for her choice to gestate it. It's not because the embryo is something special. I do feel they are so for me I congratulate because i believe what is growing inside the baby is a miracle.

eiri you are so rude, can't believe they made somebody rude like you a moderator. Particulary with Guest, he/she is such a sweet person. And I care for his opinion okay so don't say WE.

I'm pretty sure that when Eiri says "we" it means most everyone of the posters on here. You and Guest say some pretty outlandish things, which is why most of us have learned to stop caring. ^_^.

Anywho, yeah, congrats moo, glad everything is going as you wished!

Now, now, if you don't care about their opinions you would not respond. Cool

I care what people on here think - to a certain point. They are representatives of a larger collection of people, and when you come across someone in "real life" that, say, has the same opinion as guest or nightangel, you may have a better understanding of what that person thinks or feels or where they are coming from.

I'm not on the forum to only hear from people who absolutely agree with me in everyway.

And I am interested in what guest and nightangel have to say, even though I think it might be nutzy.

Right on Birch! I was going to say the same, if she doesn't care why does she responds? What she refers to "We" is just the pro-choicers. Whoever disagrees with her opinions, and that is us the pro-lifers then she doesn't care. But she loves to responds to every of our posts.

Eiri you are rude and you absolutetly lack of class. And you shouldn't be a moderator. Moderators are supposed to be treat posters with respect particulary to those who don't show abusive behavior like Guest so they want to come back again, which is the objective of the people that built this site. You are hurting them. If I were the site owner I would have kicked you out of the moderator status in a heartbeat for rude.

Everyone's opinion is welcome here, as long as it is given in a non-abusive way.

Birch hit the nail on the head, just don't respond if you're not interested in what someone has to say.

Can we please keep the personal comments out of this now and get the thread back on track?

Ta.
