10 Year Old With Major Behavioral Issues ... Posted: 08-13-07 18:04pm
I have a 10 year old niece that lives with
me and refuses to cooperate with any rule.
Does everything she does because she wants
to. No matter what we say she refuses to
follow the simplest rules. She says she
hates our house but can't give us a single
reason other than that we should get on to
her more??? I am just baffled. I don't
know how to force her to be good. We have
grounded her to little kid status per her
counselors and that makes no difference
she doesn't care she seems to care. She
seems to like being a little kid. I don't
know what to do. We beg her to be a big
kid. We tell her we hate getting on to her
but she doesn't care. She refuses to be
cooperative at all. Please help!

Ive taken courses in behavioral
management. have you tried reinforcement
and extinction? perhaps differential
reinforcement? pm me and perhaps if you
give me a case by case scenario i can help
you better.
however for starters how bout making a
rule chart and giving her a star for each
hour she doesnt break a particular rule.
if she does break the rule she looses a
star. at the end of the day count the
stars she has and say something of the
sort of ---ok you have x amount of stars
--what would you like to buy with it. for
1 star she could have 1 gummy bear for 5
she could have a cooky. or what ever you
want .
