I'm the Black Sheep...

sometimes i feel like the black sheep in
my family.
i just talked to my dad and he said that
he and my mom are going to my brother's
tonight to see the new baby and because
it's "their night to bring them dinner".
i had a c-section and nobody brought us
dinner!
maybe i'm just a whiny brat and my
pregnancy hormones are just getting the
best of me...

I swear Bridget, you and your brother
sound EXACTLY like me and my brother. I
don't know if he does it as much as I do,
but I compare everything both my mom and
my dad does for us. If I find out that my
mom did something for my brother and she
didn't do it for me, watch out. I usually
only complain to my husband, but sometimes
my tounge gets the best of me.
I hope this time around they will act
differently with you than they did when
Finn was born.

i try not to think so childishly when i
hear they've done something for one of my
brothers and not for me, but it seems like
the world sometimes revolves around my
older brother and his wife. i've actually
told a lot of stories about them on here
and i'm sure i come across as a whiny
brat, but after awhile i just wonder why
i'm not as special.
i will not do that with my children!

Bridget, I try not to be so childish to,
but I understand how you feel left out.
My brother has two daughters, and I always
feel left out because my mom is always
helping them out and doing things for
them, buying them clothes. I don't have
any kids yet, but I guess I just think
that she isn't going to do that for me
when I have kids. My husband usually
stops me before I get to wrapped up in it.
Like you said, I too will never be like
that with my kids.

Bridgette, its your parents who are
missing out. You and Finn will always be
numero uno here and in my book. I wish you
lived close. I could be your adopted
"Fairy*Godmother and bring over supper and
clean up for you and even babysit with the
Finnmiester! I am the oldest and both sets
of parents always catered to tmy older
brothers and their family. I too am the
BAHHHHHH BAHHHHHHH Black Sheep.but I'd
rather be hte black sheep than a white one
any day.............folks like us are
special. I totally understand where you
are coming from, jsut want you to know we
don't think for one minute you are being
chilish or selfish...........its your
parents whos to blame.............

well, we're pretty convinced this is a boy
so we have no names. boy names are hard!
i really like declan, but it's getting
very popular. nick really likes jebediah,
but i don't know... it just sounds so
religious! we still like dexter, which was
supposed to be finn's name.
we've had our girl name since our first
pregnancy, but i'm keeping it a secret for
awhile.

Bridget-I like Dexter. When he's older he
can have his own laboratory...
You are the middle child? Me too. It
sucks. everything I ever owned was my
sister's first. When we all got older and
moved out of the house, she took
everything because it was "her's". I was
supposed to be a boy, bu tthey settled for
me, and five years later when they had the
boy, guess who was no longer a princess??
Me. Blah! That's why I am only having 2
kids.

am i getting positive reactions to
dexter?!
when that was going to be finn's name
everyone *hated* it! that with my raging
hormones is the reason i changed it to
finnegan. of course, now i can't imagine
finn being a dexter so it was all for the
best.
i think it's becoming my new favorite! now
i need a middle name...

I'm sorry Bridget, that really sucks
I know how you feel, I'm the black sheep
of my family too. Alex is treated as the
"number 1 grandchild" just because my
sister had him at a "respectable" age with
her husband etc etc. Plus I think the fact
that he's a boy makes a difference, there
aren't many boys in my family. I get all
the grief from my family & they don't
take me seriously as a parent.
Anyway, feel free to vent.. you know we're
all here & we understand! =)

thanks zanny!
luckily my parents *adore* finn and i
think he'll always be their favorite.
personally i think my new niece is going
to turn out to be a brat, based on the way
my sister-in-law and her family are. a few
days before her due date she was referring
to the baby as "a stubborn little brat"
and then after she had her she said
something like "i guess all those times
that i threatened her life finally
worked". how motherly! they all refer to
her sister's baby as a brat too.
terra, my dad's name is james so he would
love dexter james! finn's middle name is
seamus which is the irish version of
james.

My family does the same thing for my
brother. Hes is 25 and he is still living
at home (with his girlfriend) and gets all
the help he can get while I have been
living on my own for almost 6 months and
get crap for wanting health insurance from
my mom (???) while I am going through
college full time and working to support
myself.
Mreh, just know you are the better one and
take pride in yourself for all that you
have accomplished.
