Worse Pain After Neck Operation Posted: 08-15-07 23:34pm
Hi,
In March 07 I had a operation on my neck
ro replace a No 6 disc in my neck and ease
pain in left arm and hand caused after a
car shunt from rear. As soon as I woke up
had unbelievable pain in Right hand and
Arm and being unbearable to touch. Some
3mths later after being told it would
settle I was sent for another MRI scan and
it was suggested that the spinal cord had
been nicked during the operation and would
settle down with medication. To date { 5
mths } I have been put on all types of
pain killers, 3 types of Nerve pills
etc,etc all to no avail. I get all the
down sides of taking strong medication but
no help in the nerve pain what so ever,
Have not slept for more than 2hrs at a
time or continuous in bed since operation
5mths ago. Am now under pain management
but only to be told will have to keep
trying more nerve tablets until one works,
have got to the stage sometimes that I
could jump off a bridge when pain is bad
and pills send me into depression, any
advice would be gratefuly excepted.

Try SLM (Steve Lockhart Myotherapy),
It should be useful in your case if from a
pysiological perspective your spine has
been corrected (ie the bulge has been
removed). Your continuing pain implies
your musculature has settled and stiffened
into an incorrect position after the
accident.
Your diet is important also. Poor diet
increases pain and inhibits tissue
recovery. Steve's treatment regime covers
this also.
