Hello everyone, I am new, so forgive if I
err in my post in anyway.
I am a 23 year old male who was diagnosed
with hypertension about 4 years ago. Also,
I was diagnosed with ADHD about 5 or 6
years ago. I am still in school, graduate
school, and therefore must be on my ADHD
meds. I realize some would think the
hypertension could be resulting from the
ADHD meds, but that is not the case.
Currently I take 200mg of Toprol a day as
well as 30mg of Adderall XR a day.
When I take both of these meds, I have
extremely cold fingers and toes/feet all
day. It's pretty miserable. I am fairly
convinced it is the Toprol. Because it
still happens when I take the Toprol, but
no the Adderall. It is just worse when I
take them both. I cannot change my ADHD
meds, because I have tried about all of
them and Adderall is all that works.
Therefore, I must switch my hypertension
meds. I have tried Diovan, and it didn't
work very well. It helped a little, but it
did not correct the high BP very well.
Has anyone heard of Toprol causing this?
Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank
you so much.

i tak 50mg of adderall a day, 20,20,and
10mg throughout the day and not only can
adderall cause extremely cold extremeties
while taking it but even after it has left
the system you may end up feeling even
colder. it really does a number on a
persons circulation and personally i would
say you get off of the time release and
not take it on a daily basis to give your
body time to recover (adderall is out of
ones system in 3 days or less) also make
sure your getting enough but not too much
potassium since adderall is a
diuretic(makes you pee alot) and not only
do you excrete large ammounts of potassium
in your unrine but also the loss of fluid
from this medication can have a tremendous
effect on circulation. i've actually
suffered 2 moderate potassium attacks
since i've been on this medication and now
eat at least 1 bananna a day (they work
much better tan supplements since usually
potassium in pill form is not very well
absorbed)
also look into Raynauds Disease, its
fairly common and i have it myself and
have noticed it worse from the adderall
dramaticly
