Drank First Trimester Without Knowing

I am 20 weeks pregnant at this point,
during the first trimester before I found
out I was pregnant I was drinking
occasionally ( on my day off ) and for my
wedding I drank heavily, but this was
before I found out. I had irregular
periods too so I wasn't sure I was
pregnant until 2 months after I had not
receive my period. I'm so worried now
thinking that there could be something
wrong with my baby. Anyone ever been in
this kind of situation or some sort to put
me as ease?

There are a lot of women out there that
have been in your shoes. I had a
girlfriend that drank, and did coke for
like the first 4 months cause she didn't
gain weight from the drugs. Her baby came
out just fine. BUT that doesn't make it
right. But you didn't know, and i really
think your baby will be ok. As long as you
don't do those things anymore. And keep
the rest of the pregnancy healthy Good luck

There is a lot that the medical community
does not know about drinking and
pregnancy, but we do know that it is bad
for the baby. However, nearly every woman
I know drank a few times before she found
out. Before the second trimester, there
is no placenta (I think it's the second),
so that might be why. Try not to stress
about it, I'm sure everything will be just
fine.

Thank you Holly! Takes a little bit off of
the shoulders, but I know I'm not in the
clear. I intend to keep it healthy the
rest of the way!

Really no placenta??? That takes even more
off of my shoulders because the alcohol
pass there the fetus there right? Thanks a
bunch!

I had a couple of heavy nights of drinks,
mostly shots and it was the week of my
wedding which then my period had already
been 2 months late this is why I'm
stressing so much.

the best thing to do would be bring it up
to your doctor
chances are if you are further along in
your pregnancy everything is ok or it
would have shown up in a u/s or test
already

Well keep us informed. I'm sure thing will
turn out ok! I think it's the people that
go out and drink every night, do drugs,
and don't stop. I didn't know i was
pregnant until i was almost 8 weeks so two
months too.

I just got my period yesterday,I was
thinking I may have been pregnant and I
also drank like a fish one night last
week,i was freaking out with the website
for FAS...then I read a post from a nurse
that works with babys born with FAS
syndrome and she said never in 5 years has
she ever seen one case where the mother
only drank a few times she said in her
experience its always been heavy
drinking...this made me feel so much
better,if you don't drink again i think
your baby will be fine..this was a woman
with true experience, not just some one
giving you there uneducated advice.god
bless you and your little one!!!!!!!!
