Q: 23 Weeks And So Uncomfortable At Night!

I was doing well with this pregnancy so far--no morning sickness and not much in the way of symptoms. Lately, it seems my belly is starting to pop, and I'm suddenly so uncomfortable trying to fall asleep at night. I'm uncomfortable a lot during the day too (I think maybe from the organs starting to get pushed up as I don't think the baby is as high up as I'm feeling the discomfort). It's worse at night though since I'm trying to get comfortable to fall asleep. And then, it seems, nothing is comfortable for my back at all. It just aches terribly lying in bed.

Does anything help? I'm considering getting one of those pregnancy pillows but am not sure it's worth it. I'm a bit concerned because I'm still not large so I anticipate I will only be getting more uncomfortable in the future, and I still have 17 weeks to go before the baby is born! Is it normal to be so uncomfortable already?

I don't know if it's normal to be uncomfortable so early. There is a lot of stretching going on. You are in for a long 17 weeks, because things don't get any more comfortable.

I can empathize with you Mommy 35. I am 21 weeks preggo and I find it difficult to lie on my left side all the time. I switch on my back but because I'm conscious of the effects of lying on my back I quickly switch. I also lie on the right but briefly as well and therefore I don't get the due rest that I should get at night. Also, I have to get up every night now to use the restroom. It's not that bad but it just seems as if I'm not getting enough sleep. Guess we can try light massages before we go to bed and see what happens. Hope for the best and be patient after all in the end our little miracles will be well worth it.

I don't know if it will help you or not, but for most of my last trimester I have slept on the couch. I sleep on my left side with my back pressed up against the back of the couch and a pillow between my knees. I still have some pain, but it's tolerable and I'm able to fall asleep...until I get woken up by the urge to pee, which is about 15 times a night. Evil or Very Mad
