Missed Birth Control, Could I Be Pregnant!? Posted: 08-17-07 22:18pm
Hello, I really hope you can help me. I
take Seasonale birth control; thus, my
period schedule is a little off (I have
only 4 a year). During the week of August
6th through 10th, I had sex with my
fiance, every day (he was only home for
that one week from another state). I hate
to admit it, but I am very negligent about
taking my pill at the same time every day
(mainly b/c when he's not here I don't
have to worry about it), and the times I
take it seem to vary. I also missed a pill
that week and didn't realize it until the
next day around 7 pm when I took 2 pills.
Then, another day we had a few celebratory
drinks (because he was home) and I
neglected to take it again. Once again, I
doubled up my pill the next day. I also
took all pills at random times. This is
only my second pack of Seasonale (each
pack has 3 sheets/months)... I was on the
last row of the second sheet of pills
during that week (or as it says the 8th
week of pills in the pack... and that
means I haven't had my period in 8 weeks).
Now, I am on the 9th week and first row of
the 3rd sheet. Sorry if I am being overly
thorough, but I want to make sure to give
you plenty of information because I am
very concerned.
Anyways, I have also drank alcohol a few
times since that week before it ocurred to
me that I could possibly be pregnant. Now,
not only am I worried that I could be
pregnant, but I am also concerned that if
so the alcohol could have affected the
baby.
I took a pregnancy test yesterday (16th),
and it was negative. I realize it was
probably too early too tell.
I have also been having a tightening
feeling in my stomach sporadically, I have
felt lightheaded, my breasts have been
sensitive, and today it seems smells are
extremely intense and they bother me. That
and I have an odd metalic taste in my
mouth. I am 21 years old.
Any information or advice/relief would be
greatly appreciated! Also do I have to
wait until the end of the 3 month pack
before I can test again?
Thanks guys!

You can test 2-3 weeks after the last act
of unprotected sex; your period
technically has nothing to do with it.

forgetting to take the pill at the same
time everyday or missing pills can lessen
its effectiveness. Have you explored other
b.c. options like nuvaring, the patch,
IUD, implanon, etc. that don't require for
you to remember taking the pill the same
time everyday.
You can test again just to be sure
especially since you are experiencing pg
symptoms. Even though evidently, you are
typical pill user and not a perfect user,
you still have a high probability of NOT
being pregnant. since as a typical user,
the pill's effectiveness is about 92%
effective. Which is still pretty
effective, if you ask me.
