How to Conceive a Girl?
Posted: 08-18-07 01:11am

I currently have two young boys that I love dearly, but would love to have a girl. After all the dirt and motor bikes ,pink and frilly is very appealing. Does anyone have and theories or suggestions on the best time to conceive to achieve this outcome. Or any other suggestions to help me would be great! Very

the only way to TRULY have a girl is go to the doctors and have them mess with the egg and sperm... which I don't suggest because of cost... other than that, I really can't help you, I'm sorry.

Good Luck!

Jacinta,
I also have two little boys and the dream of one day having a baby girl. I've been searching for this information for the past two years; just after my second son was born. My husband and I have considered all angles, so maybe I can help you.

There is a medical procedure called Microsort, which separates the male/female sperm then fertilizes one of your eggs. This procedure involves fertility hormones (you have to give yourself injections), it's about 80% successful if you're trying for a girl, and is VERY expensive. We were quoted approx $18,000 and health insurance will not cover any of this.

We also considered adoption, but found that was not going to be the best solution for our family. Not only can this option be costly, but we had a very hard time finding an adoption agency that allowed you to be gender specific. It's also difficult to find an agency who understands why you want to adopt when you have already been blessed with two biological children. These were obstacles we faced, but not the reason we ultimately decided against adoption.

There are a few methods that you might want to check into; Shettles and Wheaton. I can tell you that we tried the Shettles method when we conceived my second son (we were trying for a girl).

There are also a few "old wives tales" that we are considering. There is a vitamin supplement called Lydia Pinkham that some people claim will give you a 73% chance of having a girl. This vitamin supposedly makes your vaginal mucous more acidic, which theoretically favors the female sperm. You can buy some Ph strips to test this for yourself. Alkaline = boy, acidic = girl.

Hope this helps! We're still trying for our little girl. Wish us luck!
