Last night before bed I noticed some light tan spotting. I nervously went to bed and in the morning the spotting had turned brown. Given that this is my second pregnancy, the first ending in miscarriage, my husband and I got very scared and went to the ER since we couldn't contact our Dr today. I am 7 weeks 4 days today and at 6 weeks we saw a heartbeat at 104. Anyway, they did an U/S today and there was our little baby with a heartbeat of 163! He/she had grown a lot since the last U/S and was just the right size and the right heartbeat for how far along I am according to the Dr!!!

So why the spotting? The Dr said there is a very small spot at the edge of the placenta that is bleeding. She said it is common and not to worry about it. She said it is not a threat to my pregnancy. Thank God! My husband and I were so relieved to see our little bean had grown and his/her heart rate increase! I hope I have no more scares...

I'm glad all is well with you! Yes, I think spotting in the first trimester is more common than they make out. I had pink/brown spotting off and on until around 13 weeks. I didn't worry much about it because it only lasted a day at a time before going away for another week or so and never got heavier.

I had a huge scare at just over 10weeks. Lots of frank blood bleeding.
Baby is fine, I am 15weeks and 3days now, everything is perfect.
Good luck to you, positive thoughts k!
