In the past few weeks I have experienced
weakness in my right arm and marked
swelling of the 2nd digit in my right hand
while I am running. The lower part of the
bicep feels almost like a muscle pull
after the run. I am Marathon training and
this has happened with my increase in
mileage and have never noticed this
before. I am running mileage right now in
the 18 to 20 mile range at least once a
week and shorter runs at least twice a
week of <10 miles. My salt intake is
minimal before these long runs and that is
why the swelling concerns me. The swelling
goes down usually within 30 to 45 minutes
post run but the arm weakness remains. Any
thoughts?

Running is mostly lower body, so I dunno
about arm weakness. However, you seem to
be training a lot and overall body wear
down or fatigue could affect your arm.
With me, lower back pain mysteriously
popped up from adding mileage to my
running routine. After doing less
running, the pain still remained a bit.
So it was probably a naturally weak body
part that would have started hurting
anyhow. The same might be true for you,
maybe your bicep was naturally weak and
therefore it responded before the rest of
your body did to the increase in mileage.
I dunno, sorry I couldn't be more helpful!
