Migrane And Trouble Eating... Posted: 08-20-07 16:24pm
Well first of all I just joined, so hello
to everyone.
Well, first things first, I was diagnosed
with Pseudo Tumor cerebri about 8 months
ago - it's basically a "false tumor" when
your body produces too much spinal fluid
and it puts pressure on your brain,
causing your brain to think that you have
a tumor. They have me on laxatives to help
reduce the amount of spinal fluid pressure
in my brain - I am currently on lasix
(which doesn't help the headaches at all,
I still have a migrane 24 hours a day 7
days a week). I also take an obscene
amount of over the counter pain killers
because my neurologist doesn't like the
idea of me taking a prescribed pain
killer. On a daily basis I take about 4
doses of 5 ibuprofens, about 2 - 3 doses
of Excedrine Migrane, sometimes taken with
the IBU's and sometimes not, and I take 2
pills at a time of those, then at night I
go to sleep with 2-3 tylenol p.m.'s and I
usually wake up around 3am and take 2
more. I expressed how many pills I was
taking to my doctor and my concern, she
had told me that taking more than 2 doses
of a certain pill a week can cause the
pills to do a reverse effect and actually
cause you headaches, I was told to not
take anymore over the counter pills - ever
- and it would be like a meth addict going
through detox because I have come so
dependent on these pills. Well, she told
me this about 3 weeks ago, I tried going
one day without anything, and it made me
sick and I was desperate for the pain to
go away, so to this point I have been un
able to stop taking the over the counter
medicine.
Now, for about the last 5 days I have been
waking up at around 330am and throwing up
and dryheaving, with sharp pains going
from my belly button up to my breast bone,
it feels as if someone has a grab on my
stomach and is squeezing it as tight as
they can. It causes me to lie awake for
hours on end in excrutiating pain, trying
to cry myself to sleep. The pain
continues during the day, I can still do
some daily tasks without interruption
except for when it comes to eating - when
I try to eat my stomach does the squeezing
thing once again and I can't swallow.
Everything else about my body seems
normal, my bowels, I have no fever so it
couldn't be the flu I'm sure, nothing else
seems abnormal. The last 2 nights I have
wanted so badly just to drive myself to
the ER because the pain is so bad - I
thought I may be pregnant, so I took a
pregnancy test and it has come up
negative. Does anyone have any ideas? Your
replys would be greatly appreciated.

Your symptoms seem pretty severe.
I'd recommend you seriously consider
seeking medical help, and asking for a
full range of diagnostic tests.
