Have you guys ever bought a clothing item
that was too small with the specific idea
of it being motivation for weight loss? I
went to a store with my friend that sells
dresses. They only have one of each kind,
and a lot of the clothes is vintage and
unique. I found a dress and I want to
wear it to prom next june but it is a size
6. I'm no size six. I got it on but it
didn't zip up all the way in the back.
I'm thinking I want to buy it and have it
hanging in my room and use it to make sure
I drop enough weight with a prom time
limit. The problem is if I fail I'm going
to have wasted my money. Have you guys
ever done this to yourselves? Is it a bad
idea?

I have never done this myself, but I think
it's a good idea. One of my friends
actually bought some jeans the other day,
with the same idea in mind. I guess it
also depends on the price of the dress. I
think you should go for it What does the dress
look like?

I have done that before with something I
couldn't get over my hips.. FINALLY when I
did.. The fit was weird and I didn't like
it
BUT if this dress looks good on and all
that you have to do is make the zipper go
all the way up.. Good choice.. Its a size
6 what size are you? How long do you have?

Hmmm, that's a great idea. Maybe I can do
that now that I have all this baby fat.
Btw- I think that you look good and have
no doubt that you will be able to be a
size 6 by next June
Good luck.

I think that's a good idea Tanya! Even tho
you are beautiful just the way you are,
and Rowan loves you to pieces either way!
I say go for it, especially if it makes
YOU feel good about yourself.
Terra, you're such a mean nice
person....always tellin' people to shut
up.

like? It would encourage you to keep the
weight off!

I've done it before with a pair of jeans
but unfortunatly for me it didn't work. If
you have more discipline than I do though
- you'll do great! I just couldn't stay
away from mountain dew & junk food.

If you tried it on and couldn't get the
zipper up all the way (just partialy) I
say go for it! That sounds reasonable. I
don't think you should start with
something you can't get on at all but
something you can almost get on sounds
great!

I did it once and ended up having to wang
the trousers because I never did fit into
them.
However, that's me and I suck at dieting
so if you think you have good willpower
then go for it!
By the way, you look gorgeous so I don't
know why you're worrying

I've done it, and it didn't work. I'm
such an immediate gratification person. I
would try on the outfit every week and be
so sad that it didn't fit that I would go
get a pint of Ben and Jerry's to wash away
my sorrow. I'm not a very good dieter.
I'm going to go eat an M&M cookie now

It was around 130, Canadian dollars keep
in mind. So not bad. It looks sort of
like this
except not really anything like that since
that is a drawing I did in paint over top
of a girl (I did the hair too!). The just
of it is that it's not full length, and
that it is a blueish greenish colour. I
thought the colour looked really good with
my pale skin, and from what I could tell
from having it on it seemed to really suit
my body shape.

That is a very creative way to look at it
haha, thanks Melissa.

I think even if it didn't look right once
it actually fitted it wouldn't have been a
waste of my money because it still helped
motivate me to work off my flab. Which
would be priceless! I don't know what
size I am in dresses, far from a 6. I was
surprised I even got it on. My sister is
probably 35ish pounds lighter than me and
she was just in a wedding and her dress
was a size 10 (I think). So I have no
idea why I even sort of fit into that size
six dress. I think it's because all my
fat is on my tighs and ass, their huge. I
have until next June. I want to lose
about 35 - 45 pounds eventually. If I did
that in that time I might even need the
dress taken in around the waiste, which
would be an amazing feeling I think.

Actually I am fat. That's not an emotion
or a bad feeling I have about myself,
that's a scientific fact. I weighed
myself a week ago and was 177. So I am
fat, thanks though.
And I don't think there is anything wrong
with wanting to look better. Accepting
being overweight is just as unhealthy as
obssesing with weight loss I think.
Thanks everyone for the replies! I will
go buy the dress as soon as I put some
money together (and then I will take a
picture of it). I know my old clothes
haven't motivated me to lose weight (most
of my old pants I can't get up over my ass
still...) but I think this is different,
because those clothes just depress me, and
this dress makes me feel cheerful and like
I really want to do this (the healthy way,
since I can't do the quick big weight drop
and hold it off until June in a healthy
way... I'm going to need to do this the
right way).
Thanks for the replies, they were all
helpful.
