Q: Getting Induced

Hi! I went to my 39 week appointment yesterday and because of my high blood pressure the doctor decided to induce (only a day before my due date).

I am pretty nervous, but it's okay, I know he has to come out sometime Laughing

He said I am going to be admitted at 7 pm Monday and then they will use Cervadil and at 7am tuesday morning they will use Pitocin. Has anyone ever had experience with this? Just wondering and hoping that it will be quick!
Thanx! ~Katie

I was induced with my daughter 2 weeks early b/c I couldn't eat anything without getting sick, & severly anemic. My experience wasn't the greatest, I was in labor for 2 whole days b/c of the induction process. I had both meds that your doctor will be using on you, plus he had to place a "ballon," between my baby's head & my cervix. This was to break my water, & to help dialate me. That in itself took about 12 hours. I also felt like the whole being induced, took from me what real labor would be like to experience, like the whole emergency to the hospital. I wasn't sure if I wanted an epidural either, but I sure changed my mind, quick!! Good thing to, I ended up pushing for 2 hrs & 36 min. I don't at all want to scare you, I'm just trying to share my experience with you... but I do wish a much easier & enjoyable one for you & your family. Congrats, as well! Your little boy is gonna be here before you know it! Good luck!

Man i wish i could remember mine. I was induced. I was 3 weeks early though. I remember going in at 10am with contractions, and having her at 12:45 the next morning. I was in laubour for 14 hours. I don't remember it being all that bad. I thought the epidural was worse than anything. I hope it goes well for you! I bet you are getting really excited, and nervous..GOOD luck, and i can't wait to hear how things went!

Well this isn't my experience, but my cousin was induced as well, and I was there the whole time, so I'll tell you her experience. She went in around 2pm, and they started the Cervadil, and that didn't do anything the first round. So after a few more hours, they did it again. I remember them making her lie flat on her back after they placed it in her for about 30 mins. Sometime after midnight they started the pitocin, and that brought on very hard contractions for her. When I came back in the morning around 8, they broke her water. Then by 12ish, she was ready to push, and she delivered him at 12:37. Good luck and I hope you have a smooth delivery!! Very Happy

Hope Everything I Okay
I went through a c-section with my daughter. She was 28 weeks and she was coming out feet first. The doctors did everything to stop her from coming but she want to come. The c-section afterwards was a little pain especially when you go to the bathroom. But in the end it was all worth it. (But in my case I wish she would have waited) Sad . So hopefully everything goes fine. Good luck.

That is great! I hope it works out like that for me! It's just my cervix is totally closed so they don't know if the cervadil will open it or not. But thank you!

Hi!
I was induced about 2 weeks early, I also had high blood pressure and was in & out of the hospital a lot throughout my pregnancy.
I went in on may 23rd at 8:30 am.. they gave me the gel to start contractions at 9am.. that didn't do a whole lot, i just got cramps. They ended up breaking my water at Noon..which from then on i was having contractions every 3-5 mins for the rest of the day. I got an epideral around 8pm, and after a while that slowed down my contractions, so they started getting worried and wanted me to push. I started pushing at 10pm, and her head kept getting stuck, so they cut me to see if that would help..no such luck! They forced me into using the vacuum, i begged to just have an emergency c-section but the dr & nurses wouldn't listen to me. I ended up FINALLY having her at 12:59 am!
I'm hoping it will be a heck of a lot easier with my next!... Good Luck, and if you can aviod it don't let them use the vacuum!!!! Worst thing i could have ever done to my baby girl!! Sad

Hey! I am feeling fine physically, it's just I am scared. I don't know what I am scared of- not the hospital stay, not the pain, and I know whats going on and everything is ready. I am just scared....I don't know why!
And maybe a little bit nausous....I kinda don't wanna go!

I was induced, and I had a great experience! I would do it again tomorrow if I could! Just relax and take everything as it comes - don't worry about what could happen in an hour or even 5 minutes from now... just worry about getting through the pain you're feeling right now and you'll do just fine!

I can't wait to read your birth story and see pictures! Good luck sweetie!
