Late Taking Pill One Hour For a Week... Posted: 03-19-04 04:26am
My fiancee and I went to phoenix for a
week and she screwed up her watch somehow.
She was late taking her pills one hour
every day for 8 days. Since our return
she has been back to her normal time for 5
days now. Do we have a green flag or
should we wait longer?
Thanks!

It shouldn't affect anything just by being
off an hour. Its more important that
it's around the same time of day, but I
took it for years and never took it at the
same time. I would take it just before I
went to bed (which can sometimes vary).
I think you should be ok. And even if
you were up to 12 hours off, as long as it
was taken every day there should be
nothing to worry about.

It is very important to take the pill at
the same time every day. Also, you
should not have sex more than twelve hours
after you took the pill as it is not very
affective anymore.
Since it was only an hour and it was the
same hour for those eight days, I would
not worry too much. Just use condoms for
two weeks until her system is back to
normal. But, if you do not want babies
yet, you should always use condoms anyway!

I'm not sure what pill you take
hotasfrick, but most pills are effective
24 hours a day for as long as you take the
pill regularly. Otherwise, what good
would they do?

They are effective always, but not "as
effective" all b/c pills are like that.
That is one of the main reasons why it is
so important to pick a time to take it
that is good for you. It is the same as
any other med. I mean, if you take cold
medicine that last for four hours, the
last hour it is wearing off and is not as
effective anymore at relieving symptoms.
B/c is the same way.
I am not saying that it doesn't work at
all anymore, because I am not sure if they
have proved that or not, but it is less
effective. At least that is what my
doctor always tells me. Who knows.

Well, I started thinking about the whole
"twelve hour" thing, and I honestly cannot
remember who told me that. I could have
sworn it was the nurse practioner at
family planning, but I am just not sure.
It could just be one of those things that
I heard in passing and it stuck with me.
A lot of people have told me that, but it
may just be an old wives tale. Dunno.
I just still live by that rule to be
safe!!! But, I could be totally wrong! So
sorry, don't pay attention to me!
