Bad Cough Ct Scan Shows Posted: 08-26-07 09:27am
Can you please explain what the test
results of my lung scan means. Here is
what the results says. A mildly enlarged
right hilar lymph node measuring 1.4cm x
1.0 cm in size. A nonspecific
subcentimer mediastinal and bilateral
axillary lymph nodes. A calcified
granuloma measuring 6mm in size is noted
within the right lower lobe. Multiple
small poorly-defined focal ground glass
opacties diffusely throughout the lungs
bilaterally, right more than left.

Your hilar lymph node is maybe enlarged
due to metastatic cancer. Biopsy should be
perform. If the histological findings
result in a diagnosis of cancer,
lyphadenectomy will be initiate and other
treatment like radio therapy or
chemotherapy. When the ground glass
opacties are detect, initial monitoring
for several months may be useful for
excluding the presence of lung neoplasms.
The calcified granuloma as a solitary
pulmonary nodule usually indicates
benignity(have you suffered from
tuberculosis?), but also can be suspect
for malignancy.
What kind of symptoms you are
experiencing? Do you cough a lot? Do you
find hard to breath?Do you have blood in
your sputum? Do you feel chest pain?
All best to you!
