Gallstones Duration : how long to pass out of the system ? Posted: 08-28-07 18:58pm
6 weeks ago i was admitted to hospital for
an abscess to be removed, not sure if this
is related but ever since i had been
feeling sick every time i ate and had
several dizzy spells and often felt hot,
like a menopausal flush that lasts several
minutes, then 2 weeks ago i had severe
abdominal pains and was again admitted to
hospital, i was given an ultra sound scan
and was told i'd had some small stones in
my gall bladder but they were no longer in
the gallbladder, i was then sent home next
day with buscopan tablets and my dose of
omeprozole upped to 40mg per day from
20mg.
I am 44 years old and have had a
hysterectomy so going through early
menopause and on hrt for this, i have
diverticulosis and have had H Pylori
several times in the past 8 years. I was
advised by the hospital doctor to cut out
fatty foods (which i don't eat much of
anyway) and caffine i have followed this
advice but i am still getting some pain in
my abdomen and nausea when i eat, the
dizzy spells are less frequent but also
still there, blood pressure has been up
and down over the past few weeks but i'm
not on any medication for it as it only
seems to be elevated when i'm anxious or
in pain, finally my question is how long
do gallstones usually take to pass out of
the system? and if they are still there
what should i do?
any advice gratefully recieved

Have never heard of someone passing gall
stones. If they are not in your gall
bladder - where are they? Hopefully they
won't clog a bile duct. Good luck.

I would think if they are still troubling
you, you should see your doctor again. You
may need to have your gallbladder removed.

thanks for the replies, i have already
been back to the doctor, and he has said
that there were gallstones but they have
now passed, they left my bile duct 1cm
dilated from squeezing through and this is
possibly where the pain is coming from,
although this is now 2 months down the
line and i still get pain

Good luck with it.
I had my gall bladder removed 10 days ago
- a hida scan revealed it was not
functional. I still have symptoms similar
to those before my surgery. Not good for
my morale.
