I'm not sure if this is in the right
section, but I'll give it a shot anyway.
So I had some heartburn -- this is pretty
frequent for me. I think it's genetic; in
fact, I think I have some form of Acid
Reflux disease, as my mom does. We'll get
this checked out.
But first things first... I had heartburn.
So I took some tums. About 5 minutes
later, I just burbed -- JUST burped [I
assumed from the chemical reaction between
the HCl and the tums.] Suddenly, though,
everything just turned to pain -- my
entire throat, the back of my tongue, and
even in my nose. At one point it felt
like it was going to drip out. Mind you,
this was no powerful burp. Just a small
one. Another thing -- I've had heartburn
before, but it's NOTHING like this was.
This was awful -- painful, nauseating, and
the taste was just terrible, very sour and
metallic like, nothing like I've ever
felt/tasted in my most extreme cases of
heartburn. Also, I could feel what felt
like sand inside my throat and coating my
nasal cavity. This may just be the bits
of the tums I took, but I'm not sure.
I know this all sounds disgusting... but
it was frightening. It's never happened
to me before, and I frequently get
heartburn. This was not the same.
One thing: Two days ago I had a tetanus
shot and meningitis shot to prep me for
college next year. My right arm is still
sore from the tetanus.
I don't know if these shots have anything
to do with it or not, but I thought I'd
include that.

This can happen; I know it's happened to
me.
Try this for heartburn instead of Tums:
1/2 cup water
1/2 teaspoon baking *soda*
Tastes gross, but works wonders for me.
Don't take more than every two hours, and
no more than four times in a day.
