:Current medical status: my problem is
that i am unsure if i may be getting ready
to have a heart attack. my blood pressure
on this medication is good, usually 107
over 75 area sometimes lower sometimes
higher. I am having trouble sleeping at
night, ill wake up and quickly check my
pulse to see if my heart is still beating.
this is accentuated by strange
feelings....kinda like warm sensations in
my chest(unsure if they are caused by my
own fight or flight response to waking up
in that situation). the last two weeks i
have been having a hard time breathing ,
almost like i have pressure on my chest as
well as seemingly less lung capacity. i
went to the urgent care center for my
doctor and they did a chest xray, ekg(i
think that is what it was called) and a
breathing treatment(i also have asthma).
the only thing they told me was that i had
a slight fever when i arrived , and that i
may have a brochial condition. they
prescribed azithromiacine in which i am
currently ta! king. I just woke up and it
is 2am(i do this often). as i was waking
up i checked my pulse(note that i do not
know how to take pulse rate by hand, was
just checking to see if my heart was
beating). with each heart beat for about a
minute i felt a corrisponding faint pain
.....not very bad but still noticable. i
checked my pulse on my meter and it was 99
over 66. in the past month i have also
gotten winded goin up on flight of stairs
at my apartment building as well as
disiness as i stand up once or twice. im
not getting any sleep at night cause im
worrying so much .im going to work full
time , going to school at night and trying
to be a dad to three children in my
offtime. i really need some advice on
whether i need to be really concerned. my
wife just thinks i am paranoid, and i
believe i am to a extent , but a friend of
mine died at my age on his birthday due to
high blood pressure and i feel that i have
every right to be concerned. my primary
doctor told me not to come i! n until i
finish the meds from the urgent care doc.
Current medical treatment: the only thing
they told me was that i had a slight fever
when i arrived , and that i may have a
brochial condition. they prescribed
azithromiacine in which i am currently
taking. I read a article that said the
fever could also be related to pending
heart attack. i just wonder if they got
the diagnosis right."
The risk factors for developing a heart
attack are: smoking, increased blood
sugar, increased blood cholesterol, high
blood pressure, overweight, low physical
activity, mental stress, male sex, older
age, etc. According to the data you
provided, it seems that you are overweight
but your blood pressure is well controlled
by the medications you are taking. You can
check your cholesterol and sugar levels in
the blood. Experiencing pressure in the
chest with a normal X-ray image and normal
ECG is not a predictor for heart attack.
It might be that your symptoms are due to
fear and/or anxiety. You might be
experiencing panic attacks during the
nights, for example. You can request
laboratory diagnostic tests from your
doctor. If everything is OK, you can
consult a psychiatrist or another mental
health professional about your condition
and treating anxiety.
