I thought that was the drug that they used
to cause an early abortion. I could be
wrong, but I thought I saw it on this site
before.

Cytotec is a gel used on the cervix to
help ripen it and speed up an induction.
It can cause uterine rupture, but so can
childbirth. This is one of the drawbacks
of using cytotec. It is safer to use in
mothers who have not had a previous
c-section. I refused to have it used for
me because of mu concerns with it's safety

about. You can just ignore my other

No, I think you are correct as well. If
cytotec causes the cervix to efface and
dilate, that would certainly stimulate an
abortion as well.

katie, just remember that you're in charge
here. you can say no to anything, you
don't even have to go in on friday if you
don't want to (i just read your other post
about how they will be "forcing" your baby
out). you could always tell them you'd
rather wait and go into labor on your own.
good luck!

I couldn't agree with this more. Why are
they in such a hurry? Is there a good
medical reason for you to be induced?

well it was because of two high bp reading
throughout the whole course of my
pregnancy. and not ever extremely high and
my labs always came back normal.....so i
figured he was doing what was best for me
and baby but it doesnt feel that way
now...\
and sitting in a hospital hooked up for 47
hours is not very good for morale

Doctors like to be "obeyed" and they
believe they are doing what they think is
right for you. They also have decided
that birth is a medical event which needs
their constant meddling instead of a
natural order of things which, when left
alone can work out more often than not.
That stuff really gets my dander up. You
as a patient have a right to refuse any
medical treatments, and even if they
decide to discharge you from their care,
legally they have to give you 6 weeks to
find a physician to take over your care.
You pay them, so they are in a sense your
employee, working in a room that you have
rented and reserved for yourself. Just
remember that. Have you written a birth
plan? That may help you to get things in
focus. I would think that if your BP i
fine right now and it is not yet your due
date, (or two weeks after) that there is
no reason to be intervening. There are
some natural things you can do to get the
process started, but I don't think you
should have to feel rushed. Good luck to
you. Remember, you are the boss!
