How do you get clymydia? Wife tested + on PAP-test Posted: 08-30-07 12:35pm
Ok, my wife just recently had a pap smear
for school. She has had these many times
before and at the time she wasnt on any
antibiodics or anything so imagine my
suprise when we get a call to come in to
talk about her pap smear. Basically, they
said she has clymydia and the only way to
get it is through sex. However, neither
one of us has EVER had another partner.
We are both 100% sure on this matter. We
pride ourselves on being virgins untill we
were married. So please tell me how we
could have got it because the nurse at the
health department sure couldnt and just
acted like we were lying. Could they have
mixed up the results or read them
wrong?

Chlamydia is one of the more typical
sexually transmitted disease. Either she
or you imported the infection into the
relationship. A Chlamydia infection
can’t be confirmed with a PAP-test. The
PAP-test is mainly used as a screening
method for confirming or excluding
precancerous (dysplasion) and cancerous
lesions of the cervix. PAP-test (or
smears) can also provide evidence of some
infections such asTrichomonas, Candida,
Gonorrhea…but not Chlamydia.
Chlamydia must be identified via special
immunological tests. Chlamydia antigens
have to be detected in the smear taken
from the cervix or urethra. You can
request another test to be sure if there
was a mistake present during your first
screening, or not. If the test is positive
again you are definitely infected.
