Aww sorry to hear this hun. I'm 38 weeks either Saturday on next Tuesday, a few days in it. I know how you feel, I'm totally ready now and ready to meet my little girl. Do they always exam you at 38 weeks?

Being dilated before your due date means absolutely nothing. You could be dilated to a 2 or 3 for weeks! Or you could be high, tight and closed and have your baby tomorrow. Neither is ideal.

To Lauren_Jay, no. Some doctors don't ever check you (because it doesn't matter) until you go into labor or are having some other issue.

I agree with The_Girlfriend..........walk a lot. I know its tiring, but it works. ALso, read to your little man. Read hte paper or books about anything. The sound of your voice is soothing and it passes time. Also, take on a hobby, like make him a little quilt. There's lots of ways to keep busy....by making him something, you concnetrate on getting it done before he gets here! I made my daughter a quilt out of blue jeans and flannel!

Evening primrose iol, when taken by mouth or rubbed directly on the cervix, aids in the thinning and ripening of the cervix. Since that is a herd area to reach while pregnant, i suggest the ampules. My midwife told me to take one three times a day. I don't know if it helped or not, but within 5 days I was 3 cm and 70% effaced. Please be sure to phone your provider and ask for permission.
