Nausea is a very common symptom that can
be due to a gastrointestinal disorder or
another type of disorder located outside
the gastrointestinal tract. The presence
of abdominal pain may suggest that nausea
is originating from the gastrointestinal
tract.
Many gastrointestinal disorders manifest
with nausea and abdominal pain
(inflammations, peptic ulcers, tumors,
gallstones, hernias…). You didn’t
describe the pain (intensity, time of
showing up (after or before eating),
localization, propagation…) so I can’t
give you any possible diagnosis.
Several diagnostic procedures are used to
discover the origin of such pain: a
physical examination (palpation and
percussion), an abdominal ultrasound, an
X-ray image, a CT-scan, blood analyses
(blood count, sedimentation rate, liver
status, kidney status…). You can consult
your GP first and then an internist if
necessary.
