How many women do you guys know who go into labor before their due dates with their first baby? How many do you know that go into labor after the due dates witht their first baby? I KNOW EVERY PREGNANCY IS DIFFERENT, but I just wanted to know some statistics. I just want to see what catagory first time mom's fall into.

I personally went into labor 3 days early with my first, but i was also the only person in my family (out of 6 babies) to do so.

I personally went over my due date by 5 days, and then I was induced. Tho I believe I was going into labor the day I went in anyways.

found some kindof statistics hope this helps!

Here are some things to think about as you approach your estimated due date. Babies have their own calendar. As much as we would like to naturally induce labour as soon as “we” are ready, labour starts often unpredictably and sometimes later than what mothers would like for their own comfort. Babies will come at 38 weeks and other times will need 42 weeks. Technically you are not overdue or what is called “postdates” until 42 weeks. However, today it is more common to hear from providers that you are “overdue” even if your due date was yesterday!

So in essence, your due date is only a very rough target; which is why it is referred to as an EDD - estimated due date. Your own baby will likely come within a period of four weeks between 38-42 weeks. Only about 3-5% of women actually give birth on their due date not to mention that the majority of women don’t go into labour until after their estimated due date!

Most first time mom's go past their due dates Sad I think that it's only like 1 in 20 women actually deliver on their due date. Usually after 42 weeks they will induce labor because it is no longer healthy for the baby or the momma.

Actually thats not true. Most first time mom's don't go into labor after thier due date. Its a good mix up. From all the women i've talked to, most go into labor around 39 weeks. Full-term is anywhere from 37 to 40 weeks. Anything past that is overdue. Also, my doctor said he'd induce me at 39 weeks if she hadn't come yet due to size and such. All the women in my family went into labor on thier own around 38 weeks. Everyone's different though, but don't let people tell you its NORMAL to go till 42 weeks. B/c thats def not the average. Possible? yes, but not average.
