I'm not thinking all about just the adults having fun, I want to remember her first birthday as being something special.. I think all of her birthdays are going to be made special but turning 1 just seems like a huge milestone for me. I don't know.. I appreciate all the good ideas guys & Sandy, kids like decorations & balloons too.. It wouldn't be just for the adults. I'm decorating no matter what I just wanted ideas.

i know they do.. but i've been to a lot of 1 yr olds birthday parties.. im just suggesting not to waste a lot of money because from personal experience they just dont care. They arent old enuf to enjoy going all out.

shes going to have a good time regardless of what everything looks like. Just having friends and family there, especially her mommy and daddy.

Michelle, I think you should definitely go all out if that's what you'd like to do. We had lots of decorations at Alyvia's birthday party at the lake, and it was amazing! I took lots of pictures, and it was definitely a celebration of my baby girl's first birthday. And it's just as much about you as it is about Kaylee! What mother doesn't take the time to look back at the year that's gone by since she's given birth?

Don't let people discourage you from going overboard with decorations. So Kaylee isn't old enough to really appreciate them... so what? It's all fun, and it's a celebration. And the pictures will be amazing, and you'll have a blast. Definitely have fun with it, and don't let people talk you out of it if it's what you want to do.

I think certain people here need to stop being snippy and sarcastic about everything, and take a breather or something.

Thanks Laura! I'm getting more & more excited as it gets closer! We're def. going all out for it, Shane's so excited, it's cute. His mom never really had birthday parties for him growing up, it was more about expensive gifts to them rather than celebrating with their little boy so we're going to have tons of fun with this!

Definitely take loads of pictures! We want to see everything!

Will you be having the party at the cabin or somewhere else?

Oh I will be going picture crazy that day, probably in between crying because my baby is growing up! We're having it down at the cabin, as long as my family stops having a fit because *god forbid* they have to drive 20 minutes out of town Rolling Eyes Gotta love family..

aww, what's 20 minutes? Especially if they get to spend time with the birthday girl! I would love to have your property, it would be awesome for a big cook out. And the kids could run around outside and play. I can't wait until we can look into buying our dream home.

Apparently that 20 minutes is too much for some of the people in my family. Mostly 2 of my aunts & my grandma. They don't approve of us living that far out in the country with a baby anyway so of course they aren't going to want to see the place.. I said something to my one aunt the other day about me sending the invitations out as soon as we figure out what Shane's schedule is at his new job & she just rolled her eyes at me & asked me where we were having it. I told her "Over at the cabin" & she gave me this look like "Okay I guess I'm not going then.." I hate it..
I can just picture the party now though as long as everything goes as planned.. The cakes.. The messy pictures.. The cookout.. Kids playing.. Games.. It's going to be so much fun Smile

yes, because we all know the adults are supposed to be the ones enjoying themselves at a 1 year olds birthday party, not the kids.

you'll have pics no matter how you decorate. You're supposed to want to remember the special day, not the *special decorations.*

So that's not being sarcastic?

Michelle, this is your first baby and she will never get to turn 1 year old again........CELEBRATE your keesters off. As for the people who can't seem to ride 20 meesly minutes for Miss Kaylee's special day, its their loss..............don't sweat it. This is not about them. I have to drive over 3 hours to see my family...............THey are the ones who will regret not coming.................you only live once and you can't get time back......HAVE A BLOW OUT PARTY for that baby and tell her Fairy*Godmother wishes she could be there...........

Very well put FairyGodMother. I've got relatives that expect you to come to their kids parties, but won't show their face to ours. So we just shorten our guest list to people we like Wink

my *sarcasm* was in response to a very selfish remark that was made. Mandi was implying that the party was mainly for the parents which im sorry i thought was completely out of line.

So be it if i was sarcastic about that. I never got rude about the whole having a party for the child issue.

Because God forbid the parents actually celebrate their child's birthday and enjoy themselves, right? Evil or
Very Mad And Mandi didn't imply anything other than if Michelle wants to go all out, she should. It's a family celebration. How exactly is that selfish?

Whatever, I'm done. Good luck, Michelle!

She's doing well, thanks! We're getting her 1 year portraits back soon, so I'll be posting pics when I get them. She's got 4 teeth now and she's waving hi/bye and shaking her head when she hears "no". And she's getting so great at walking!

*sigh* she's growing up! Crying
or Very sad Laughing
