Should I Start the "day 1 Start" Or "sunday S Posted: 09-04-07 12:04pm
I have been on birth control for the past
3 months, doing the "sunday start" method.
I am now about to switch to a different
birth control and while reading the
package insert i see that if you do the
"day 1" method, u don't need to use a
backup. So which would be best for me????

The protection is just for one week so it
doesn't really matter. If you don't want
to use condoms for a week, then start the
new pills on the first day of your period.
If you don't mind waiting, then start them
next sunday.

If you start the pills right after your
old ones (like you take the old pack, wait
the placebo week, and start the new pack
right away) your protection should be
non-stop.
But if you do it any other time you would
have to wait a week.
I don't know that day 1 start really
counts when you are switching, because you
didn't really have a period.
I'd just keep on the same schedule I was
on so the cycle isn't too whack.

I started yesterday. So should I start my
birthcontrol now or wait until sunday? I
know you have tried to tell me before, but
this confuses the heck out of me. Thanks

Right, it doesn't matter. Regardless of
when you start, just wait a week and then
you'll be fine.
If you want to wait until right after your
period, it might help to regulate the
bleeding. But it doesn't really matter.

If you want to be safe immediately, you
need to start the pills on the FIRST day
of your period, but there is a little bit
of leeway. Personally, I would start now.
I don't know for sure if you'll be
protected immediately but I'd say yes.
