well I'm back. And I didn't get to find out the sex. The baby was curled up in a ball most of the time. The doc was concerned with a couple of his findings though. The femur (thigh) bone was small compared to the size of the head and something about the baby's bowel he seen. He said that they both point towards downs syndrome but the bowel only points towards cystic fibrosis. He wanted me to get blood work for the CF and when the times right he said I should have an amnio <---(sp?) but I really don't want it done. I will love and keep the baby either way. Also by my last period I'm 18 weeks but according to the size of the baby I'm only 16 weeks. So they scheduld my to go back in 6 weeks to re-check. They did tell me that because of my uterus ( the shape of it) that the possibility of me going into pre-tertm labor is very high. Also I will probably have to have a c-section due to the baby being breech (which the baby was today, but that can be normal this early) we'll see and I'll update you guys again in 6 weeks. I'm just gonna keep praying that the baby is healthy!

Awwww...thanks! I'm real optimistic though. I always have been about every thing. I'm have a lot of faith in GOD and know that what ever happens is because HE has planned it to be that way. GOD's in control not me nor the doctors I'm just the carrier and care taker of this child. GOD has given me the chance to raise HIS child. So I'm okay no matter what comes of all this. But thanks for the prayers.

Are you going to at least have the bloodwork drawn for the CF test? I can understand you not having the amnio, but bloodwork wouldn't be a huge deal and it will probably help doctors pinpoint if there are any problems.

And I'm not saying this because I think you should abort or anything. I think that if there is definitely a problem, you can use this time while pregnant to come to terms with it, perhaps find support groups and resources, do some research, get in touch with some great doctors for when your little one is here, etc.

i will be praying for you. One thing you should ask your doctor for if he thinks you are at high risk for a preterm baby is the steriod shots called dexamethazone it helps to mature the babies lungs best time is at 26-28 weeks I had my twins at 32 weeks and they were fine I had the dex shots you get one in your hip on one side then 12 or 24 hours later get one in the other hip I think it is 24 I had to stay in the hospital for both of my pregnacy to have these shots

You know ifyou dont want the amnio then dont get it! I refused the tripple marker to screen for downs. I dont care, like you I will love my baby nomatter what!
Was your tripple marker or triple screen or - ??
Either way dont let the docs convince you of what you dont want.
Will be thinking about you!

I dunno about the blood work. I may but not sure. I'm deff. not gonna get the amnio! Ryan's cousin has CF and my bestfriend in highschool had it. So I know all about it and I'm not worried about it. I know what all comes with it and I know the things that they go through. I'm okay with whatever life throws at me! Smile

I was just thinking when my sister had her son 5 years sgo they scared her with all these different tests that the baby was downs had all sorts of different problems from developmental to brain damage and in the end she had the amnio and they found out that the techs had the dates wrong. Some of these test are highly touchy and need to be done at a certain time or they are in accuracte. They had also told my sister that her andd her husband had a blood make up together that was like siblings. what ever that means. I think You are an amazing women to just take what ever god gives you. I was the same way my frist children were from a rape but i kept them anyway.(long story). And they started kinder garden today. I will keep you in my prayers.

Well it's been a while since I've posted on this topic. I've had 2 other regular OB appointments since. Baby seems to still be growing slowly. The last appointment I had I was 22 weeks and baby was measuring at 19 weeks. So at that time she was 3 weeks behind instead of 2. I'm concerned that she my be experenicing IUGR. I didn't mention it when I first posted this topic but they're are only 2 vessels in the baby's umbilical cord too. This was a birth defect they noticed at the detailed scan on 9/4. I read online that IUGR can be linked to only having a 2 vessel cord. Also last appointment she was in a transverse breech position. But she's been kicking around and seems to be okay overall. I go tomorrow at 2:15pm EST for my follow up detailed scan. They are gonna remeasure the femur and humerus bones. And they are gonna look at the bowel again. I'm not sure what else they are goning to be checking for, but we'll see. I just wanted to let you guys know. I'll post again tomorrow when I get back from the doctors.

just because you get medicaid, you do not necessarily have to go to the Health Dept for your visits. I had a friend that received medicaid ONLY and had no other insurance and all she did was when she got ready to schedule an appt for her first visit, she just got the yellow pages and looked through and called different physicians to see if they accepted it and luckily she got to see a very nice doctor. It was a private practice and it was really nice!! But I know you have already established care but just an fyi, you dont have to go to the health dept just because you get medicaid because they do take a while to see you because there are so many people going there...

You & your baby are in my thoughts & prayers.

I know this is a scary time, and being a 1st time mommy doesn't help.

The ladies are right though, many of these tests come out inaccurate and only scare the mother.

One of my friends is pregnant and her baby only has 1 vessel in the umbilical cord. They told her that 2 was normal. Mreh, who knows...really! lol!

Stay strong through this! Try not to "google" these findings either. It'll only scare you more.

I agree with Laura about finding a support group!
