Is His Baby In Danger? Posted: 09-07-07 17:58pm
I recently found out the my friends
girlfriend is six weeks pregnant. She is a
freak for animals, and they have two cats
and about twenty birds (2 cockateils and a
bunch of parakeits). She lets the two
bigger birds, which are caged next to
their bed, roam free around their
apartment. There is bird seed, feathers
and poop all over. Obviously this is a
unhealthy environment to be raising a
child, but i want to know if the baby is
at risk for diseases prior to birth as
well as after.

I think the biggest risk involving the
cats is with the litter...she shouldn't be
changing or cleaning the cat litter
because she could contract
toxoplasmosis...(I may be off on the
spelling on that).
I don't know anything about bird poop,
though. I am concerned for the
birds...how do they get along with the
cats????
Personally, I think it's great she has so
many animals and that is a great
environment to raise a child and teach
them about respect for animal life.
I would get the poop cleaned up, though.

That is, kitty poop, not kitties
themselves.
